There’s no clogging up the chain.
I have a set of Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro and an Fiio BTR3. The BTR3 is clipped on the headband and looks almost seamlessly, you can’t feel it, nobody notices it. They’re connected with a 15cm cable that is just the perfect length without leaving any redundant wire hanging around. It’s just the perfect conversion to wireless.
Since both my Custom One Pro and BTR3 are physically falling apart after some years of extensive daily use, I want to buy Beyerdynamic DT700ProX and I wanted to get BTR7 for this, but the form factor is the reason I hesitate. I bought a leatherette case with a clip for it on AliExpress just to physically see its dimensions before I buy the device itself and it’s just so awkwardly huge. So now that I discovered Qudelix whose form factor is so much closer to BTR3… I think that’s gonna be my choice! Especially that I’m never gonna once see/use that screen of BTR7 and so on, qudelix seems like just the better choice for my use case. And seriously, the major use case for these things is conversion of large wired headphones into wireless, permanently clipped onto them, connected with a 15cm cable that just fits snuggly around the headphone.

I think soundwise these 2 devices are a match. The factor that makes the Qudelix K5 the clear winner for me is the PEQ.

I have a different use case with the BTR7 …
I mounted a BTR7 with velcro onto a Centrance Ampersand Amp… the Amp is fed via the 4.4mm balanced… so the amp has XLR ,4.4mm for balanced and 1/4 for single outputs… so I can plug anything into this setup … the Amp is very powerful and I can drive any headphones and I can just pull the plug on the BTR7 connection for IEMs (4.4mm or 3.5mm)… so for any Headphone and any IEM I have it covered… the source to the BTR7 is either the iphone or better yet is the fiio M15s… with the M15s I run all of the streaming apps and also my personal collection via the memory card… I use the app Wavelet for EQ and it has the ability to automatically put the headphone/IEM to proper EQ via harmon and then fine tuning via PEQ… its very nice to be able to have desktop performance in a package in this small size … its overall package size is bigger than the BTR7 but I can drive a Susvara with this setup and it sounds amazing…

I’m confused. Why dont you just use the M15s for the source instead of shooting that to the BTR7? Does the BTR7 sound better or something? I must be missing something…

The BTR7 mounted on the Centrance Ampersand just makes the Ampersand Wireless… and that allows for other sources besides the M15S… like an iphone for example… and other wireless sources…

25g vs 68g. I’ve had the 5K for years now.
Sounds great driving even moderately sensitive over-the-ears. Most recently for me the Ananda Stealth v3. Paired with a 0.5m balanced cable and it’s the ultimate putter around the house and yard with amazing sound. Recently retired with few obligations or worries.
iPhone 13 running Roon client. All sound processing done in 5K. I have a few tweaked EQ profiles I play with…XFeed is the best I’ve had including one of Jan Maier’s amps from 25 years ago.
Absolute best part is the lack of weight hanging from the HP.

After about 3 years, I still love my Qudelix K712 Pro 5K to death. This little magic box transformed my long forgotten old pair of cans into the smoothest and loveliest pair of BT cans imaginable. As soon as Qudelix releases a version with bigger battery, I’ll upgrade.
