Ear Buds Discussion

Are you specifically looking for earbuds or IEMs?

Earbuds as I have some IEMs, but appreciate a good pair of durable buds for outdoor work, workouts, etc. “Daily drivers” as some call them.

I’m afraid I don’t have much experience with buds but over on HFG there are quite a few connoisseurs, such as nmyz and Goku.

Just wanted to share that I’m shocked by the performance of the… $3.5 Vido earbuds. Not sure what’s going on here, but they sound exceptional for the price.

Yeah just got the Vido myself. How does something this dirt cheap sound this good?

Hello…Thanks for introdicing this topic ima fan of classic earbuds,i preveasly owned a Senfer PT15,it was the 2st Senfer model i bought (1st was the discontinued 4In1),im now using a 5 € Qiliive earbud…Lol…I love the clear n tridimentional sound of the PT15,but IDK if i buy anotha PT15 or buy the PT25,have u tested the PT25 ???..I know it must have way more bass cause its Semi-Inear earbud type, but how does it feel in terms of detal, crispness of the trebles n sound stage ???

Xelastic Sedna tips are really great, they are slightly sticky when warm. They make most iems sound better with a accurate fit.

Xelastic Sedna Crystal are my new favorites,
may not fit some iems with wide opening.
IF You can get them to fit, the sound quality will definitely improve.

Help for hearing impaired 89 year old! Need advice for mother in law who only likes ear buds. She uses hearing aids daily but they aren’t compatible with her tv. Will a headphone amp boost volume enough from a digital to analog signal? I tried a simple converter but it wasn’t loud enough. Appreciate your advice

Apple AirPods Pro 2. They have a hearing aid mode.

Thx, but she’s already in hearing aids with volume that’s too low

This is hard or impossible for us to answer, as each person with semi or near deafness requires a diagnosis, hearing measurements, and customized treatment by an audiologist. Sometimes going louder doesn’t do much good with hearing loss, and we cannot say how much louder it’d have to be. Is this caused by the common physical/mechanical declines of the ear with age, follow damage from loud sounds, or is it neurological hearing loss?

Still, an amplifier could make things sound a lot, lot louder than a system without one. Adding basic speakers or a soundbar to the TV (e.g., Best Buy, Costco, etc.) may elevate the volume enough for the hearing aids to be effective.

Thx for the reply. Her hearing loss has been gradual for decades. She has customer prescription hearing aids and is under the care of of audiologist and ENT Dr. She has been using using earbuds nightly for tv for decades, which I speculated has accelerated her hearing loss. However, at 89 she isn’t going to change for whatever time she has left.
I’d appreciate any amp recommendations you can provide
Best regards
Brian
