The Elegia is on sale at Adorama.

When I first listened to my Clear I was disappointed. Compared to a well EQed Elegia, like Resolves profile there was no WOW effekt. I haven’t done a intensive 1 to 1 comparison so far but I use them daily depending on my mood, or according to requirements. But the Clear without EQ is in all aspects on par or better than the Elegia. I like both.

I personally didn’t hear any difference to the stock cable.

That’s weird, I just checked and they are selling at $690. Am I doing something wrong?

I found if I search on adorama it goes up to $690 but if I use this link below it pops up at $399 :man_shrugging:

It’s an email promo. You have to use the link provided in the email.

That’s a great deal on some well regarded headphones. :+1:t4:

That’s a really good email promo @ValentineLuke. Is it an email from adorama?
If so I might have to get on their email list for future deals. I already own the elegias

Out of curiosity, what source chain are you using for the Clear and the Elegia? My understanding is the Clear is much more responsive to higher tier source gear and “scales” very well compared to the Elegia which doesn’t change drastically between amps.

I believe it is a recurring promo they send out.

Many speculate that Adorama is liquidating Elegia inventory. Not sure who’s, but it does seem to be the case.

Definitely a great deal.

Thanks for all of the advice. I’ve had my Elegia Headphones for a week now, and all I can say is WOW! I’m hearing things on them that I can’t hear on my LCD-Xs. I don’t know if the word “layering” makes sense, but to me, it’s like hearing things in 3D. I don’t know if it’s soundstage, microdynamics, or what. There seems to be a more natural texture to bass and the standing double bass sounds natural even when I boost the bass frequency by 3.5 db at 80Hz with a low shelf EQ. When I put a low shelf EQ on the LCD-X at 120Hz, bass stops sounding natural and starts to lose texture when I boost it above 2.5db. The Elegia has impressed me much more than I expected, and considering I only paid $399 for these from Adorama, I couldn’t be happier.

That’s awesome. I’m glad you’re enjoying them so much. :+1:t4:

I suppose we now know why the Elegia was discontinued (if it was indeed discontinued - has that actually been confirmed?):

Naturally, the maker of a luxury car is the first place you’d go to get a pair of headphones…

A new closed back from Focal is definitely interesting, but the price is quite a bit higher than the Elegia was at launch. Shame they didn’t keep both, for 3 closed backs at different price points.

Although this might turn out to be similar to the Elegia but marked up for the Bentley brand. Looks smart in any case.

Makes you wonder how much the Bentley and Naim name is driving up the overall cost., The Naim Mu so which this headphone is voiced from is a little bass heavy in my book, and has a rich midrange, sounds decent with piano and vocals, acoustic guitar. Should be interesting.

I have the Drop Elex. Love them. How different do the Elegias sound?

The Radiance isn’t the Elegia replacement and won’t be taking its spot in the Focal line-up. The Radiance is a limited edition run.

Different materials, different driver and the limited edition would all be factored into the pricing.

I don’t own the Elegias or the Drop Elex. Sorry.

While looking into the MiniDSP DAC/Amp dongle (which has a 10 band EQ) for my Elegia (they really benefit from EQ), I came across a a poster on Reddit who has created a list of EQ presets for a variety of headphones with the frequency response target being Sean Olive’s latest "Harman Around-the-Ear/Over-the-Ear Target“, published in 2018 and his own target for in-ears that is a derivation of Sean Olive’s " Harman In-the-Ear Target 1“, published 2017

This is the Wiki (in PDF) for his presets for the Elegia on the RME ADI 2 (7 band) and a 10 band EQ.

This is his headphone list

The Reddit page where he has FAQ and explains his measurements

I haven’t tried his presets yet for the Elegia nor compared them to what @Resolve has posted but I am looking forward to giving it a shot.

It’s funny to hear Oratory1990 as “a poster on Reddit”, that guy is a legend!

I really love his Elegia EQ settings (ironic since he says he hates the Elegia). I use Neutron Player for EQ off of my iPhone. I highly recommend the Dekoni Solid Sheepskin pads as well. You get noticeably more consistent bass and a generally warmer presentation.
