General purchase advice: Ask your questions/for advice here!

@pk500 is right. If you are happy with them, let it be.

If there is something you want to explore, decide if it’s for gaming or for music. And if you have a store where you can try things, by all means go there and listen to a variety of headphones. Take your time. Nobody is forcing you into a decision.

Maybe a live concert would be a good idea?

I’ll bet you figured on a headphone forum everyone would tell you to spend your money. The thing is, we know that it can be a quest, and that the law of diminishing returns says that if you spent 150 and are basically happy, you will need to spend 500-600 to be happier, and then next step after that. . . .

It sounds like you’re quite happy with the headphones after applying EQ, so what is your goal here? Is it to find a headphone that’s both good for gaming and music that doesn’t require EQ to sound good?

What would be some options for ‘the next tier’?

Also I like my headphones, its that I have no reference point to other headphones since they are my first quality headphones.

If I’d go to a store I wouldnt know which ones to try or if they are out of reach.

What do you mean by live concert in reference to headphones?

Its which ones would be an upgrade for me that would be good for music as well as for gaming.

That way I could maybe listen to them and then decide if I might check in on the used market to buy some IF the upgrade sounds worth it, or if I even notice a difference.

Hello everyone.

I have a pair of hd600’s and a fiio ka13. The cable that comes included with the ka13 is very short and im wondering if its fine to use just any usb c to usb c cable.

Im also wondering is it possible to get an adapter to convert the 3.5mm jack on the cable with hd600 to 4.4mm jack. That is, if using a 4.4mm jack has any difference in the quality.

You can use any reasonably good quality USB-C to USB-C data cable yes.

You need not a 4.4mm jack but a balanced cable with Sennheiser connectors for the HD-600 with a 4.4mm jack on the end. I suspect you may find a slight improvement, especially with control of the lower frequencies. I have the slightly thirstier HD-6xx and it benefits from additional power. Your FII0 puts out significantly more power in balanced mode.

I don’t know where you are, but I happen to like the HART Audio cables for this. Basic good quality, not fancy.

A different USB C cable should be fine, but keep the length as short as possible. I’ve never had reliable data transfers from USB cables over 2 meters / 6 feet. Longer USB cables work fine for charging, lights, and non-data uses.

You can’t convert a single-ended cable (3.5 mm TRS*) to balanced (4.4 mm) without chopping the end and rewiring. Balanced cables (4.4 mm; XLR-4, 2.5 mm, etc.) require independent ground wires, and a simple converter stands to short and damage the amp. I agree with @pennstac that a Hart Audio cable would be a good solution.

There are some balanced 3.5 mm TRRS** cables out there, but they aren’t very common.

*TRS = Tip, Ring, Shaft

**TRRS = Tip, Ring, Ring, Shaft

First of all, Hello everyone,

I bought the SIVGA SV021 Robin from a music store a while ago.

The moment I first received it and opened the box, I realized I had purchased a quality pair of headphone.
The build quality seems very stylish.
They have very comfortable earpads. They definitely don’t hurt, even if they’re on my head for a long time.
However, I’m a little confused about the sound. That’s why I need your help.
The headphone’s sound seems like rich. Not bad. and The bass is sufficient.
However…
When listening to musics, the sounds of musical instruments, and when watching movies and playing games, sound effects like the explosion effects and gunshots sounds overshadow the voices of the characters. I can’t clearly hear the voices in the foreground.
Also, the sound effects, like explosion scenes in movies, are so high-pitched that they feel like my ears are about to burst. In these situations, I have to immediately turn down the volume.

My DAC/Amp is Topping DX1. I’ve using it on high gain, and the volume knob is at 1 o’clock. Windows sound is about at %80.

What I want to ask is,
Is this the normal sound character of this headphone and this is normal? Or do I need to buy a better DAC to get very good sound quality with this headphone?

I look forward to your help. Thank you ..

Thats it, I dont know and might try some other options to see if it would be worth it since I only have these headphones and no other point of reference.

What about something warmer or a little darker than your Beyers? Perhaps the HiFiMan Edition XV, Sennheiser HD 650 or Sennheiser HD 490 Pro.

All good choices. I have the HD 650 and HD 490 Pro. Very happy with both.

IMHO, the HD 490 Pro may be one of the best buys going in the high end audio realm. I think it’s better than many headphones priced much higher.

Hello everyone…

For people who have listened to Hifiman HE6, what is a headphone that is closest to the sound signature HE6 that is available for puchase today?

He6 is most known for its slam and punch, the intense and impactful bass. Almost visceral feeling that you get from it.. There should be something that can replicate it.. Almost all videos on The Headphone Show says HE6 is quite a bit better than what Hifiman produced since then (he6se, he600 etc)

HE-6SE V2 would be most similar.

Hi Reolve. Your own review puts HE6 few levels up. Is there anything from other brands that give me the same feeling?

Maybe one of the Focals? Like an Elex, Clear or Utopia. TBH they don’t make planars like those old ones anymore, but that’s also not a bad thing. More balanced tunings is also bound to mean less flare/colorations that impart these effects. Like I’d rate the newer ones considerably better for tone and timbre.

Thank youAndrew.. Helps me..

Just a general note, this year is shaping up to be a very good one for headphone releases overall. One of the best in recent times. So I’d wait for the dust to settle a bit and see where things fall. It’s hard to navigate all of this stuff with every new product having a hype train about it.

Hi there,

Completely new to the forum and the YouTube channel, came across their streaming service test on iOS/macOS, so I apologise if this is an stupid question.

I predominantly use Apple Music and saw that the DAC inside the iPhone doesn’t auto change the sample rate. Would an external dongle DAC override that and fix the issue? Or would that depend on the individual DAC?

Cheers in advance!
