And I find it pretty accurate. Both JDS Element III (1.3W@32Ohm) and Project Ember (1.4W@32Ohm) I used with Heddphones 2 GT are more than enough to drive them. There is healthy headroom for sure.
When I first tried H2GT it was on Violectric V550 - it felt like an overkill. I couldn’t move volume knob pass 9 o’clock.
Hi @Resolve ,
I was wondering if you could do me a quick favor? I’d love to see a comparison measurement between the two headphones, as you mentioned in your first post
And I was also hoping you might be able to put together a comparison video for the new version - if there is enough difference or improvement for the GT in comparision to the OG .
Thanks so much!
I’ve had the chance to listen to both the Heddphone 2 (OG) and the Heddphone 2 GT. It hasn’t been a ton of time and maybe I should wait to offer impressions or make any strong claims. But perhaps it’s also worth noting an immediate impression, which is that I think the 2 GT is better than the OG in every way. Specifically:
the band/strap apparatus looks the same, but there is considerably less clamping force at every setting; this make it much more comfortable
somehow Hedd has eliminated the “crinkly” noise that you hear with 2 (OG) every time you move your jaw and which supposedly was inherent to the AMT driver. It didn’t bother me all that much, but it’s nice that it’s gone!
the tuning seems, as best I can tell, and for my own case, perfect. Good but not excessive bass. Better from 2-6kHz, but still not bright. The Heddphone 2 (OG) is an excellent headphone, but it would sometimes sound “dry” or dull.
the soundstage strikes me as better. Again, 2 (OG) wasn’t poor; it had width but not depth or height. The 2 GT isn’t going to be class-leading in soundstage, but it is good. It is ample.
Heddphone 2 GT is a contender for the title of perfect headphone, IMO. With more time we will see!
More than the manufacturer’s recommendation. The Questyle CMA18 has 1,000 mW @32ohms out of the balanced connection, and it’s barely enough for low-volume listening.
The HEDD2 GT is a terrific headphone, but doesn’t really go well with portable DAC/amps. (And, if it’s helpful, I’m not a believer in general that you need any more power than what gets you to the volume you want.)
If you EQ you can get both of them to sound great, though with the GT, less would be needed. The real issue is the intense clamp on the lcd5 and the heavy weight of the GT.
