I’m not seeing it, they seem to have totally delisted ALL Hifimans now:
HE6SEV2 is listed out of stock:

No Hifimans at all:

You’ll find stores that consistently run sales that other stores that sell the same product do not may not carry those products in the future.
Hifiman.com still has it: HE6se V2 (open-box)
You can’t judge the 6 SE v2 with the power you have. It needs 90 hours of break-in, not BS in the least. Every single mylar membrane speaker (7) and headphone (12) that I have owned demonstrated it clearly. Never heard break-in on ribbons, and most dynamics. Woofers over 10" that are have thick paper also change with use (go a few Hz lower by measurement, and the range of motion increases too).
The cable it comes with is not only not nice to deal with, its sonically inferior. No other headphones (DCA, Audeze, Senn) I have had multiple copies of demonstrate this. But every single HFM cable is not up to snuff. HE-6, 500, 6 SE v1, v2, 560, 5 SE, 400i, Sundara, 5LE, HEX v2. Also the pads are not a good match in all the round cup models I listed and a few more that I didn’t.
So why put up with that? The drivers are for the most part superb at the price. Make a O2 free cable or buy a good cheapish one such as Custom Cans out of the UK. Get a DCA Ether Angled Lambskin pad, take off the rear screen (or get one with a more open mesh), do the fuzzor mod as described at Head-Fi, EQ it, but the popular settings from say crinicle are bass happy and do not deal with CSD problems at 3.5 and 9k. Do all that and it will out perform the Arya, LCD2, and the Clear assuming you have 4 wpc @ 50 ohms or more.
I really like these headphones!
They really are great headphones. I am just finishing a week long run with them.
Great with the right amp. For me that is the iFi Pro iCAN. I don’t find them particularly bassy, but they take to bass boost/EQ very well
“Return of the King” - 55 days until Black Friday at Adorama.
Will the king return and the prophecy be fulfilled? Or is this the end of a dynasty?
Stay tuned.
Black Friday Refurbished $509
There are other good deals in general
I unfortunately got a bad pair, interestingly enough they were channel-balanced to this horrific tuning. I got a he1k 2se and never looked back.
I just ordered a headband from AliExpress that looks a lot like the Audeze strap, I’ll let you know how it works out for $45.
Did anyone ever offer you $45 to find out?
Haha, just re-read that! Could have phrased that better.
So, the AliExpress headband is not quite to the standard of the Audeze headband, but it makes the HE6SEV2 much more comfortable.
Looks nice! What about the weight of this headband compared to the standard one?
It’s much lighter. I used to get a hot spot on my head, but was able to do my first hour+ listening session with them.
My only criticism is if you have a small head, it’s doesn’t give you as much adjustment as easy an Audeze. I’m right at they bottom of the adjustment range.
That’s my main problem with HE6seV2 actually: I am not a bighead, and with the stock band if I move my head around or just nod, the cups just slide off my ears, which is super annoying. The drivers are super heavy and there is no clamp force → having to sit still just waiting for the temple to become a hot spot does not add enjoyment to the listening experience.
would you have a link to the headband… thanks
Thanks… put a couple on order…
Just wanted to share my measurments since I got myself a 711 clone with pinna. Stock pads and Dekoni Elite Velour for HE series are almost new, Beyer pads (EDT 990 V) are worn, with filters that come with them. 3 pictures for clarity, they are the same measurments. I also have Hifiman Velour somewhere, but I don’t want to bother measuring them since I took rings from them for Beyer pads, all I can say that they are similar to Beyer in terms of sound. Measured with custom printed grills, shouldn’t affect sound that much though.
