These were recorded around Christmas 1973 while Genesis was in LA during their Selling England By The Pound tour in America. Pretty much the highest quality from this era that I have come across. ---

It’s really interesting to watch Phil Collins just be the drummer in the background. And he was a pretty good drummer. ---

Went to The Shed for [“Sonic Sphere”](https://theshed.org/program/304-sonic-sphere) today. A giant sphere, suspended in mid-air, covered with hundreds of speakers and a 3-D light show, aka the world’s craziest surround sound experience. Music/sound programming by Carl Craig. I’m going again in July for Steve Reich’s “Music For 18 Musicians” ![20230617_143131](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/5/8/586b7c710f4529de878ec5f9b95a39ef603bd193.jpeg)2 ![20230617_143215](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/8/6/86c6cfb72dd394e2d7874ea95c93e734ca4bad52.jpeg) ![20230617_143222](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/6/3/6347f4500774b1166e25986e50f958f74775e5fb.jpeg) ![20230617_143445](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/9/3/9317ffa4dc6c7861e78685183206cd9017ea607a.jpeg) ![20230617_143429](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/4/9/49a954fda6f4958305b8627d45f4fc4ebac5ad36.jpeg) ![20230617_143655](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/e/c/ecef0084125333691bd43ae1704cd2d4373d1b2b.jpeg) ![20230617_153555](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/d/a/da2b106b6b533bbecd68684b74aa5471fb5edb3a.jpeg) ![20230617_153543](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/b/c/bcbf7791967a63852c68b9eee0f01439e52d2846.jpeg) ---

Saw Peter Gabriel at TD Garden in Boston MA last night. Very nice show, although the sound at The Garden is always a bit lacking. Played quite a bit of new stuff including a few songs that haven’t been released yet. For the older stuff, you basically got the hits and Biko, was hoping for a bit more. Still had a great time! ![1000002759](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/8/7/87a9f7178f9ce000ace5a1598970aa56336a1b5b.jpeg) ![1000002758](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/f/0/f056b308c390cc4c06bcff494b124697a1bd0e58.jpeg) ![1000002750](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/f/a/fae8d2748527fb5db3de5f1aeaa9e82ac195bbf1.jpeg) ---

I love Peter Gabriel - such an underappreciated genius. His new album “i/o” is, if nothing else, a fascinating statement on the importance of mastering decisions. ---

Great band. I saw them play in the 90s. They’re all senior citizens now, so perhaps they should drop the “Jr” and go back to their old name of “Dinosaur”. ---

The first time I heard “Possession” in 1993 I fell madly head over heels in love with Sarah McLachlan. Long before she was a ASPCA meme or adult contemporary artist, half a decade before Lilith Faire was a thing, “Fumbling Towards Ecstasy” immediately became one of the albums that has defined my musical taste ever since. I’ve seen her in concert a few times over the years (even shared a chance private “good morning” as she rehearsed at her piano in Rockefeller Center at 5am once lol), but when she announced a 30th anniversary tour on which she would perform the entire album live there was no chance I was going to miss it. The intervening years (and a totally new band?) have cast a definite adult contemporary sheen on what was once very much alternative rock, but her voice is still as angelic as it was 30 years ago. ![20240624_191527](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/c/9/c97e377908ff0aeac418c46a8ce93811892bb4e9.jpeg) ![20240624_192327](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/a/0/a091dbae30d847a7fa1369434479d0d44b08ebda.jpeg) ![20240624_211800](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/b/7/b7ba37dd8b205131c97229dd4c4e26d87f141266.jpeg) ![20240624_210940](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/6/e/6e0c5a37eb92c4bb40abb6c81f2c2310e0b1fdc7.jpeg) ![20240624_210928](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/b/4/b44d98167d29686f923469e11595fc655a4e3dfc.jpeg) ![20240624_210438](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/9/c/9cd2b0b9a60ccf250faeb26a6c461eaa216a3648.jpeg) ![20240624_212248](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/b/2/b29cad95818d9adbe948a6afee34e2d52be26ca9.jpeg) ![20240624_212213](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/d/8/d8cb76cb0b33294ea480d796673afe6265eb4124.jpeg) ![20240624_211353](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/8/b/8b18ad9dda8a6fc53124a69583a99fe0e8c07ac1.jpeg) ![20240624_223758](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/0/c/0c2dd1c6acfd16e3d108b0f2904542bf6544ceac.jpeg) ![20240624_212743](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/1/b/1b918b040b102fb9f7d912668e2251f949090b01.jpeg) ![20240624_211008](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/headphones/original/3X/7/f/7f5113c9cedcf4f9ea12c5ebb088cdcd3c631d2c.jpeg) ---

Ha! I was just about to add Just Another Band and figured I had abused the top 5 premise already. BTW, it wouldn’t be in my top 25, much less top 5, but the 2023 Stones live album Grrr is pretty terrific and is a well-produced concert album. Some interesting cameos (I’m not much of a Lady Gaga fan but she absolutely kills her role on Gimme Shelter) and Keith sounds as good as he has in years. Well worth a listen.
