King Crimson: Islands
Saw King Crimson perform some of this, late ‘72 I think. Some of the audience was ready for them, some was not, as a clueless student marketer was more interested in Bread, their entirely mismatched lead-in group.
They also did a lot from Larks’ Tongues.
I got into King Crimson from their first album onward. I had all of their first five albums. Lost track of them (and music in general) once the extended deployments kicked in. There are entire years I barely know what was happening stateside. The 70’s and mid 80s up to the early 90s are kind of a blur.
Been listening to Big Big Train’s new album recently:
and Revisiting my favourite album of theirs:

»A special edition of the album was released on 3 September 2012. It features a new version of the album with the previous instrumental tracks replaced with new, live symphonic orchestration and percussion rather than synthesizers and drum machines. The new edition also has a new unique album cover.«

I’ve been fantasizing of being ask to program a “In Memorial” 2025 for some awards show. Rather than making the list complete, I narrowed the list down to the following: Steve Cropper, Jimmy Cliff, Jill Sobule, Raul Marlo, Flaco Jeminez, Todd Snider and Joe Ely. So been listing to their catalogs, or at least what I got to build a playlist. Later in my fantasy, I turn in the list and immediately get fired. It’s been good listening.
