without having a Lokius to test, I can’t say for sure. What I’m unsure of is if the signals are separate inside the Lokius. So if you have XLR in, but RCA out, would the Lokius be able to output that signal to RCA? That’s the one thing i’m unsure of. That’s why I went with the overkill option, to be safe.

It’s been a while since the Jot 2 got any comments or love, so I thought I’d give it some…

I’ve been using it today since it’s the only amp I have that doesn’t generate a ton of heat, since it’s been heatwave time in the Northwest, and I have no AC to cool off.

Mine usually does preamp duties to my computer monitors, but it’s been a real pleasure to listen to with my headphones. I kind of forgot about it, as Burson Soloist 3X GT gets the most love these days, but it runs so hot!

Anyway, I’m feeding the Jot from 1 of the Yggy OG SE outputs and it sounds pretty fantastic, way out of it’s price league! Obviously, that’s Schiit’s forte, but for $400 it’s really impressive. I’ve listening to my Rosson RAD-0 with it, really great combination.

It’s a great value proposition for sure 👍

I took mine to a friend’s who had an Yggy… It’s a phenomenal combination. Will try it with my newly upgraded Bifrost 2 soon.

Is it possible to add a remote volume control to the Schiit Jotunheim? My DAC is the Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE which has no volume control.

At about $2,500, HoloAudio Serene Pre-Amplifier from the unused output of your DAC to your amplifier would add remote volume to your speaker system and stack nicely with it.

Or at $25 dollars, Logitech K400 or any other wireless keyboard with volume control buttons might lower volume in the digital domain if you are playing from a computer source.

Welcome to the forum, @Audiophilehi . As @hottyson noted, there is a wide range of options to get remote volume control.

In between $25 and $2500, there are 3 Schiit preamps with remotes. And any number of passive preamps with relay-based remote attenuators, some of which are high-quality.

If you’re asking for a way to remote-ize the existing volume control in the Jot, then I would say not a good approach. It would void the warranty and probably crush the resale value.

It’s a slightly unusual request for head-fi. Generally, headphone amps don’t have remotes, the assumption being that the headphone cable keeps the listener within arm’s length of the amp.

If you don’t mind sharing, what’s driving the need for remote volume in your headphone rig?

It’s not always true, I ran a passive pre with a remote volume control in my system at one point, partly for source selection, but mostly for not being easily able to reach all the volume control on the amps.

There are certainly disadvantages to putting another potentially low quality pot in a system but sometimes convenience trumps best practices.

Yep. I sometimes run my tube amps with artistic but weirdly placed top-of-device volume controls off the line out of an SS amp with a nice big volume pot. Only for convenience, and an SS amp doesn’t affect the sound much.

Thanks, I’ll use my PS Audio BHK preamp connected to the Jotunheim.

I’m not using the Jot as a desktop headphone amp . My listening seat is about 12 feet away from where the Jot will be placed.

I initially had planned to connect my Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC to the Jot which btw has no remote volume control. Connect to the DAC is my Aurender N100H server and my PS Audio transport.

I will now connect my PS Audio BHK preamp to the Jot so I can use the remote volume control

Anyone get a Jotunheim 3? Seems like it’s hardly gotten any attention. Only one video review so far and very few written reviews.

You should check out the thread for it on head-fi, that will definitely answer some of your questions.[https://www.head-fi.org/threads/schiit-jotunheim-3-impressions.977967/page-37#post-19036965](https://www.head-fi.org/threads/schiit-jotunheim-3-impressions.977967/page-37#post-19036965)

I got one, and I think it’s pretty impressive for $500. It addresses my biggest complaint about Jot 2, which was its excessive, harsh, gritty sounding treble which made it unlistenable for me pretty quickly.

Treble is much more refined and balanced, it has a much better and pleasing midrange, and the bass is clean, detailed, and punchy.

It’s just much cleaner, more refined, and better sounding than its predecessor, and is both quiet and powerful. Single ended output isn’t gimped either anymore, as on Jot 2.

It’s pretty tough to beat at that price. 👍

That’s too bad. My understanding is that it is basically a Mjolnir 3 without the choke inputs. If so it is a screaming deal.

For now I’ll keep it on my short list while wait for more reviews or a deal pops up. 👍

WaveTheory did a review on YT fwiw, and the feedback is quite positive among users if you look through the thread I mentioned.

Schiit doesn’t do “deals”, it will be $500 unless you find a used one pop up at some point.
