You’ll be too busy making music to be listening to.
Just a quick note … the buyer paid, so my Abyss will be on their way to them first thing in the AM.
Now I just have to decide if I want the Phi TC version, or if I’m going to wait to see what Joe comes up with next (which is probably what I’ll do).
High end audio is like wine tasting.
One keep looking for new flavor.
There is no best audio product for everyone.
It depends on personal taste.
I plan to enjoy flavor out of SR1a next year.
Then I may give Abyss a try on 2021.
By the way 50$ HP amp is real deal.
I had been back and forth between Dave direct and this little guy driving hd 800s for several hours.
It really make sound more exciting out of HD 800s without giving harsh edge or losing too much transparency.
It is really fun to try this.Nobsound amp.
There is no " Holy Grail " It’s just an illusion
“The light at the end of the tunnel …”
…
Yeah … that’s just a train coming in the opposite direction …
After replacing stock tube with RTC 5654 RT,
This Nobsound NS-08E amp sounds more organic and pure with natural resonance.
Stock tube is already pretty good.
Thus it is not day and night difference.
But 15$ NOS tubes made worthwhile improvement.
I received my Geshelli Archel Pro 2 amp earlier this week (a bit earlier than expected). Sadly it showed up right in the middle of me being embroiled in some family health stuff, so its still sitting in its box (and that’s why there’s no “What’s in the Box?” post for it yet).
Very interested to see how this stacks up against the likes the JDS Labs ATOM, Magni 3, Liquid Spark and so on. In theory it should best them all, at least at moderate power (it being the least powerful of the group, by some margin).
One thing I’ve noted with these recent inexpensive amps that out-measure things like the THX AAA 789 (and in some areas even the Benchmark HPA4) is that, while they do measure well with simple tones into non-reactive loads, their sound does not hold together as well with reactive loads (i.e. actual headphones) when under real load as the THX AAA-based designs.
I think many have lost sight of the fact that the “AAA” implementation is intended not just to give extremely low distortion (not particularly hard to do, as long as you pay attention), but to MAINTAIN that low distortion into reactive, difficult, loads.
Which I expect is why I find the THX AAA stuff better than the better-measuring cheaper units when listening at length, to complex music, and particularly with high-impedance dynamic headphones.
Very interested to see if the Archel Pro 2 falls closer to the likes of the Atom or the THX AAA 789.
Prayers for your family.
HD 800S driven by Nobsound after tube rolling give very sweet and comfortable sound.
No hard edge but full body with good placement of instrument.
It is not transparent as Stax 009s driven by Carbon amp, but still musical enough.
I am enjoying Tosca (opera by Puccini) now.
My Chord Dave and Msaler cost me 15k$ which give very refined sound.
Including odd connectors and RTC 5654 RT, the total cost of Nobasound amp is 80$.
With such high quality source, it may not make sense of using 80$ amp but it still works.
Hope the mentioned health issues are the kind of ok after dealing with it
Best wishes Ian @Torq
It’s aging-parent/long-term chronic condition stuff. Occasionally it flares up and result in hospital time (and the inevitable waiting around/visits etc.) … usually right before we’re scheduled to travel (like right now).
Appreciate the concern and well wishing!
Good luck to your parent’s health.
My father died 3 years ago after going through chronic asthma due to smoking.
My 87 years old mom is still in Korea being taken care of nursing personal 24 hours.
I visit her at least twice a year.
I am going again next Sunday to see my mom in Korea.
To all of us who have loved ones living with illnesses and unrecoverable circumstances , are in my thoughts and prayers.

@Thomas_kong, Tosca is based on a Rome palace now used by the French Embassy, Palazzo Farnese. It is in one of the most beautiful and romantic plazas in Rome. There is a small very Italian classic restaurant on that square where they treat you like royalty. On a late spring, summer or early fall evening, a dinner there with your partner is unequalled. Especially if you remember E Lucevan le Stelle while they are grating some black truffles over your pasta and drinking some nice Italian wine (your choice).
I took my missus twice there, and we were both enchanted the two occasions. It is just romantic perfection.
I had been to Rome only once.
I dropped at Spain Plaza, Coliseum and old Rome center but not at French Embassy…
E Lucevan le Stelle is one of my favorite Tenor Aria.
Thanks a lot for your insightful comment.
Thomas
Thank you so very much.
