Does anyone know what the difference between the Mest MKII and the Mest MKII HK Special+ is (physically and sonically)? Trying to physically tell them apart, but it seems they both come in the gold carbon fibre weave. Thanks in advance!
And the Mest MKII HK Special+ has a really ugly (imo) design, where the gold flakes are all relatively the same size and too evenly distributed, whereas the international version looks to be randomly mixed in, giving it a more natural unforced look.
The beauty of audio being subjective is that we can all find something we like and dislike!

I ended up getting a pair of the international Mest2. Aesthetically speaking, I wasn’t a fan of the carbon fibre on the Mest2 - they sort of look like scratches. I was hoping for more of the Focal Utopia carbon fibre weave.
Aesthetics aside though, sonically they didn’t disappoint. The above thread on the Mest1 was very useful for me buying the Mest2, so thank you all!

I just ordered the Mest. MK II. I cannot wait to give them a listen. I purchased, based on unique configuration, specifically bone conduction driver, and EST drivers. The MK. II Mest is supposed to have better bass response and more Mids. The reviews have been fairly positive! I am happy to hear you like them. Its good to get honest feedback from actual users.

Thanks for the song links! I have to admit i have never listened to any of these songs. I guess i am stuck in a time warp, always listening to jazz and 70s rock. Looking forward to checking out these groups

Yes, it does. I preferred the MKII over the MK1 for the better bass and mids. The MK1 was a little too thin/dry for me.
I just received the MKII. I love the graphics on each IEM its a graphic design, with some gold flakes. I am saving these for my Bday in August, so I will give some feedback on sound qualities and bone conduction then. I do like the size and fit much better then my EE Zeus.

I owned and loved MkII until I heard EE’s implementation of the full range BCD and realized they had cracked the code that UM simply hadn’t. I’m curious whether UM really got it right this time, too.
