Yeah, I see what you mean and I hear what you mean
That’s because of several resonance peaks in the treble which result in this metallic feature. It doesn’t bother me though, so I’m still happy with my Clear, even without EQ or tubes.
Hmm, when it comes to music listening

Hey @eru_illuvitar — really enjoyed reading your setup idea, and I love how modular your thinking is. That kind of flexibility with swapping DACs/AMPs definitely appeals to the tinkerer in me.
For my ideal portable Head-Fi rig, I think I’d lean slightly more minimalist — probably something like a high-quality DAP (maybe from A&K or Fiio) with a built-in balanced DAC/AMP combo. I do love the idea of modularity, but for public transit I’m always a little wary of managing multiple pieces on the go.
That said, your concept of a switchable tube/solid state AMP module is genius — I’d love to see someone actually bring that to market. And I totally get your choice of the Sundaras or HD 6XX — both are great-sounding and not so precious that you’d panic if something happened to them in transit.
Curious — have you come across any gear that even comes close to this modular idea in reality?
