Thanks man and I feel very lucky to own this pair. Funny you should mention the VC, as that is my dream to have a pair in Cocobolo and hopefully someday I will, but for now my Ambrosia Maple VC is doing me well. Cocobolo is my favorite wood, as it has the hardness and speed of Blackwood combined with the best looks of any wood out there. I can’t think of a better wood for the Atticus due to it’s sound sig, and I know it would be incredible with the VC as well.
Am I the only one that also loves saying the word, “cocobolo”? It sounds like I’m saying something dirty in Portuguese…
(something I’d love to do)
They’ll be releasing a new band soon that might be the answer for you.
This is from Zach’s post on HF:
“In a few weeks we will have a new “crescent band” designed just for zmf’s that will replace the older leather, and has targeted cushioning to replace any need for either co pilot on a zmf. We aren’t quite done with them yet but will make an announcement and show a video on installation when they are.”
I did mess with the band was able to fit it (the Atticus), it’s still a little snug, hence the reason I put it up for sale. This will be interesting to see what they have to the “crescent band” and does it fit the same as the pilot and co-pilot. I do like the Verite Open for the speed and dynamics with the May and Auralic Aries G2.1. Starting to move away from close to the open. I’ve been on the Eikon for quite some time now without exploring other options and when I tried the VO and Auteur, the sound stage really opened up, brought me out of the small closet feeling.
Any more word on the ZMF November schedule and the new African Blackwood Verite Closed release? I’d like to know what time Friday the Blackwood VC will officially be available to order. I am a little concerned there may be a stabilized-ZMF-type clamoring for this new Blackwood. @zach915m
The Blackwood open was available for awhile so I’m sure it won’t happen with the closed. Plus Zach said somewhere about speculating that they will be around a bit as they have never sold out quickly of any non stabilized sets.
Zach said it will be available thru end of November. Though I guess it could sell out, but I doubt it.
Yeah, I hope y’all are right! I’d really like to see what’s on offer for ZMF November before I go all in on a Blackwood VC. Problem is I’ve got an itchy trigger finger since selling my Ash VC a few days ago. I must show some restraint…at least temporarily.
It doesn’t help that I’m really, really liking the Ash Auteur that I just picked up last week. It almost makes me think I don’t need to drop $2700 on another headphone when things are sounding so great right now. Almost…
Perhaps a silly question, but for the ZMF aficionados….
Do you think there’s a pad they offer that could tolerate light sweat?
leather more (resistant) than suede? other than that, I’d say no… I’d had spicy food (yes, at my desk) working a good sweat and the leather was good. Just cleaned it with a damp cloth and dry it…
i’d go leather/lambskin myself. it’s more durable, more odor resistant, and cleans up easier. the suede can stain (from experience), and seems to soak up moisture more.
I’d likely apply a removeable semi-sticky commercial/industrial plastic film over the factory leather or suede. Even plain old Saran Wrap may work.
Kind of like when you used to go to your grandmothers house and they had that plastic wrap over the couch? Sorry, had to…
Thanks, y’all. I’m keenly aware this would be the most overkill ever, but I’m tempted to get some Atticus for the garage gym
okay, one more joke. Get some wrestling masks and the atticus, just wash the mask after each workout session to keep the sweat down. (wait till the spouse comes in the garage unaware when your suited up)
Every taxi in Japan:
that would be overkill yes. I sweat too much to wear any headphones while working out. I just blast a pair of sonos ones in my garage gym. i don’t care about acoustics enough when i’m squatting 400+ or whatever. the violin timbre and cymbal plankton is not what i’m looking for when the weights are heavy. i just don’t want it to sound bad. like, diana krall does not pump me up to do a heavy set. i am pretty sure a scientific study would show the trinity sessions lowers athletic performance.
As a former competitive powerlifter, I know what ya mean. Now working toward the bbing stage, I sweat a lot less and actually enjoy my training…. Far less aggression. I just go into my garage while the baby and wife sleep and do my thing.
i hear ya. I’m never going to compete or do physique - the whole weight monitoring thing isn’t great for me - but I like lifting heavy more than crossfit which i did before, so basically amateur powerlifter here. I am not competition serious about it. I don’t 1RM, i just do a 5/3/1 type thing. it’s still fun to know you could walk into most gyms and outlift most everyone even if i’d never win a powerlifting meet.
no i’m just a heavy sweater. you know that guy who goes to the gym and hits the treadmill for 20-30 minutes and in those 2-3 miles the console is covered in sweat and it’s dripping on the sides and it has splashed on the treadmill on each side? that’s me.
