I am an audio perceptualist. I am NOT a subjectivist nor an objectivist.
Perception science looks at how people interact with the world. Biology and psychology CONTROL how your body collects, transforms, and interprets EVERYTHING that you see, hear, feel, smell, or touch.
- Audio ‘subjectivists’ focus on their own experiences and feelings, but seem to not understand that scientific explanations exist. They also may not care, but they surely enjoy music and life. Cheers!
- Audio ‘objectivists’ typically fixate on one narrow type of science – the electrical factors of sound reproduction. They seek “better,” “best,” or “value” systems, but may have little awareness or appreciation of human limitations, illusions, and arbitrary quirks. Do not allow naive ‘objective’ BS to trick you into having faith in irrelevant charts and data – listen for yourself and understand when you may be dealing with a narrow and rigid person.
A perceptual strategy considers (a) personal experiences, (b) electrical data and measurements, and (c) the science of human biology and learning. Consider everything an open mind, but with skepticism.
