Interestingly the background when I open up settings is now the artwork of the last track played before It switched off automatically. But if I go to the play screen it is replaced by the grey default “unknown song title”display. Weird.
does anyone have direct contact details for A&K support as none are apparent from the website or the SR15 manual?
Commencing thread necromancy:
My quick and to the point review of the SR15.
I will confess, I was one of those who asked… Why do people use DAP’s? I mean, use your phone! Or get a Mojo and call it a day!
One day I got curious after a conversation I had in one of the discord channels…
I quickly came back to the forums and posed a question which @Torq was nice to answer:
I decided to give his recommendation a go to see what was this whole DAP thing all about…
I headed over to headphones.com and placed my order.
A few days later this little mofo showed up:
Shit… was I wrong, I can see where DAPS can be useful, It quickly took the place of my Mojo. I set my Cell on AP mode and I was off playing my Spotify and Qobuz Playlist in no time… I enjoyed not having the cellphone close to me, nor hearing emails come in for work!.
The SR15 interface is amazing though small (I am kinda blind) Still,… It works out very well. Is snappy and responsive.
I was able to install Spotify/Qobuz/Tidal with no issues. Still working to get Pandora and Roon installed.
To top it off with cherry on top and whiskey on the side, I recently purchased my first IEM’s, Moondrop Starfield and the synergy between these two just rockso your socksor!
If you are looking for a HE Entry Level (<- If that makes sense) DAP, the A&norma is a good place to start.
Thanks @Torq for the recommendation.
You’re in trouble now…I had similar thoughts but after having the SR15 for a couple months… I quickly upgraded to my beloved Cayin N6ii ( I really wanted the N8 but need streaming features). That being said I think the Norma is awesome sounding! smooth and easy to listen to!
Thats no lie… I am quickly falling for this shit. I am already thinking about it. But I am going to chill, drink up, and chill some more and enjoy it for a while.
Wise! plus the Norma is so small it is much easier to keep in your pocket and walk around with. Enjoy the music everywhere you go now
Did you ever get to the bottom of this issue with your SR15? I am a current owner of an SR25, and i am having this same issue with my SD card. I need to manually rescan the media library every time I put new music on it. I have had three previous A&K players (AK240, AK300, AK70MKII, and currently a KANN CUBE, as well) and have never had to do this with any of them.
No, it rescans every time. but it will play while rescanning. My issue never got solved - I simply have too much music for the player to work seamlessly. But I downloaded Foobar and that seems to do the job ok.
Hi,
I have been told that the SR-25 can be ordered with an optional 5 pins XLR output: is that true ?
I know that it has both 3.5mm SE and 2.5mm Balanced output for the headphones, but I would like to have a 5 pins XLR output to connect it to my main HiFi system…
Thank you for your reply
Piece of crap the SR15 fabulous sound for sure but the most pathetic battery. Needs charged fully for 1 nights listening. Avoid.
“Interesting” first post …
On an appropriate charger, going from a fully exhausted battery, charging takes about 4 hours. From that I was getting 7-10 hours of playback, depending on format (all lossless in my case), headphones, and whether I was playing from local storage or streaming (i.e. with WiFi on), and Bluetooth activity.
That’s about typical for a DAP of this size.
Newer models have fast charging, with a compatible charger.
If you need longer battery life, make sure you’re disabling things you don’t need. If you need significantly longer run time per charge, you’ll be looking at the Sony DAPs … which can hit 20-30 hours of playback time - though have other cons and significantly less output power.
All depends on use-case.
there’s always the SR25 I’m getting about 20 hours mixed lossy and lossless from a full charge.
As far as I know there isn’t any option of a 4 pin XLR output. The SR25 MkII does have a 4.4mm balanced output, been using that and really like it.
