True and good point – there were people who preferred singles before.
So maybe things are not qualitatively different, but people are taking advantage of the capacity to form playlists, skip ahead in “radio” mode, etc.

I think you may have inspired me to listen to some KINKS albums this long weekend. Everybody’s in Show Biz, Lola vs Powerman and the Moneygoround, Muswell Hillbillies, Arthur - or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire.

Once upon a time each side was its own unit. Then the sides went away but there was still an order. And then there was a a very clever algorithm that served me what it thought I wanted but felt like a radio with a skip button. I recently wandered into Roon and started listening to whole albums again, beginning to end. There’s something to be said for it, at least every now and again

I prefer listening to the full album, ideally in one uninterrupted sitting. This especially holds true if it’s a concept album.
