But is it sweat proof⦠because gym!!!
Iāve taken the ER2s on runs. My god are they fantastic for that. So quiet in the park. Make sure you donāt do it on the road though as youāll probably get hit by a car thanks to the isolation
Iāve been meaning to get a pair due to all the praise from people who I respect their opinions and generally align with on sound profile⦠with the Bluetooth version coming it might be my entry point!
Hey folks. Are there any āaftermarketā cables you would recommend for the ER2 XR? Especially with the angled connector ⦠thanks!
I just bought one from Lunashop on aliexpress. Itās still in shipment.
Just got the ER2XR in the mail, and Iām waiting on the SE to show up.
Initially I thought I needed the bigger tri-flange ear-tips but after using those for about 5-6 hours, I realized I just may not have been putting them in far enough with the standard tips.
Trying them with the standard tips now and I think Iāve finally gotten a good comfortable fit, though my ear canals are probably more sensitive than usual now because of my experimenting.
I think they sounded brighter, and more sparkly with the bigger tips, but they werenāt the most comfortable things Iāve shoved in my ear. Looking forward to trying out the SE to see how it compares to the XR.
On a side note, am I the only one whoās always scared to plug something into a desktop amp that is also plugged directly into my ears?
Nope, feel the exact same way when I try using desktop amps with in-ears. Not sure how that caught on but itās apparently a thing now, which makes sense given how the arguably more considered design of larger form factor amps could make for better sound than ICs can manage.
Also, what IEMs have you tried that you might be able to compare to the ER2 series? Given theyāre not prohibitively expensive and look as if they could be a comfortable fit for me theyāre tied with the JVC FD01/X1 at the top of my shortlist for when I can afford to splurge on replacement IEMsā the FIIO EX1s arenāt bad sounding, but they do hurt my ears after a few minutes. Better than not having IEMs at hand, of course.
I havenāt tried many IEMās recently, but Iād say these are just as enjoyable as the RHA T20i that I had in the past.
I actually chose to try the Etymotics because my ears are extremely sensitive to larger bean shaped IEMās.
The only real comparison I can draw currently is to the Samsung/AKG buds that came with my Note 9, and I can say with full confidence that these blow those out of the water in every way. But, that should be expected considering the price tag. (Hard to compete with Free)
The ER2XR is very good for listening for a long time because they donāt hurt my ears and the sound signature seems to prioritize smooth, non-fatiguing presentation while having enough detail to be enjoyable for someone who cares about audio.
Iām still on the fence of whether I want to use the bigger tips or the smaller ones. Gotta use em for a few more days to see what fit/sound signature I like more.
The ER2SE should be here on wednesday so I will probably write up a comparison then.
Man, Iām having a lot of trouble deciding which tips are correct for my ears. The larger tri-flange tips sound brighter and more punchy but arenāt as comfortable as the smaller tips. It seems like every time I switch between the two, I like the other one more.
Edit: I think the dual flange medium tips are best, at least for me. They make the ER2 the most comfortable IEM Iāve ever worn.
I also ended up returning the ER2SE in favor of the ER2XR. The bump in bass makes them very enjoyable, and if I want something more detail oriented or treble focused, well I have a few other headphones for that.
These are replacing my Sony WH1000XM3 for when I want to block out noise because despite not having bluetooth (with the stock cable at least), theyāre more convenient.
