@Resolve, have you tried the Utopia pads on the MG yet?

I’m curious as to how those would affect the sound.

No, I don’t have one here at the moment. But it would be good to try it out.

Are the Clear MG cables the same type/feel as the one that comes with the Celestee? I’m sure they are am improvement from before, but the Celestee cable is the worst cable I’ve ever had the displeasure of using.

Clear MG comes with two cables - terminating in XLR and 6.55 mm - and they have the same feel and quality as the Celestees. Of course, any third-party cable you may have for the Celestees works fine with the Clear MG.

Well that sure is a shame… time to start ordering more aftermarket cables I suppose… Wish Focal would’ve tossed in a set of extra pads like the Clear Mg Pro. The non-Pro’s color looks so much nicer IMO but the Pro would be the better value, since I intend on leaving those stock cables behind anyways…

I take it you have never used a Hifiman cable yet!??? I wish it was better looking and feeling too, but they are more functional than the old cables.

… I’ve seen the horror stories. The Hifiman cables are probably going into the trash immediately.

The old cables just seemed like someone took a coat hanger and sheathed it. Those actually might take the cake of the worst ones I’ve played with—sorry Celestee. I really don’t know what’s with Focal and their cable choices.

A while ago I ordered some NewFantasia HiFi balanced cables off of Amazon because I needed some XLR cables for my upcoming stack. Now that I have the Clear MG Pro’s (they weren’t even a thought in my head at the time I ordered those cables) I’m tossing the idea around of getting some nicer looking cables. Not for sound because I personally don’t think I would hear a difference…but better aesthetics.

Got any recommendation for me for great cables probably under 75.00? I’ll keep the others for now even though I haven’t even used them yet and too late to return.

I’m personally a fan of HartAudioCables if you are okay with a longer lead time in their custom shop. Their in-stock stuff ships pretty fast and their modular system is handy if you have a bunch of amps, some balanced some unbalanced.

I have one of their customs on order for the Celestee and I’m using them for a few IEM’s.

I haven’t bought a ton of after-market cables. Corpse Cables are pretty nice, Hart Cables are pretty decent as well @skeeb23 I actually do need a pair of after-market cables for my HE6seV2 and maybe for the Clear too. I will see if I can reach out to a few companies.

Based on many recommendations, I went with Arctic Cable, and I’m very happy with the build, the lightweight nature, and the sound quality I’m getting - using them with my Focal Clear MGs and loving it. And great people to deal with.

I went with Norne Audio and I’m very happy with the cable.

A nice plus is that they work with the HifiMan HE6se, which helps me justify the cost.

Maybe reach out to Trevor at Norne.

+1 for Hart cables for your budget, @skeeb23 and I think the custom colors are worth the wait. And as you buy more headphones and amps, you can buy more connectors, building up a modular cable system that will last a lifetime for very little money. They use Mogami wire.

@MRHifiReviews If you have a higher budget than @skeeb23 , then I like the Corpse Cables Gravedigger (less blingy) and Arctic Cables (more blingy, more expensive), and customer service is great for both.

My favorite is Double Helix (most blingy, most expensive) but they’re a one man company and he isn’t always very responsive. But the level of quality is fantastic - their silver cable is so thin, it looks like an IEM cable. From what I read, Double Helix and Norne shared a lot of their research with each other when they started up, so they both are pretty ingenious when it comes to the technology of their cables.

Very cool looking cables indeed…but just too rich for my blood right now. I’m going to do a Hart custom order at some point when I can catch them in stock to do it.

Hart use good quality Mogami cable, so they’re not a step down. And if you have the time to wait a couple more weeks for a special order, getting a custom color makes them a little more special.

I use them alongside my more expensive cables, and they’re semi-permanently plugged into my Aeolus. They were really useful when I took them on vacation because I could use them with different connectors for my Sony ANC headphones on the plane, and also for my IEMs in the hotel.

End of infomercial, LOL. I have no connection to the company. I just love the quality and value. I think they’re my emotional equivalent to the Koss Porta Pros that are beloved by many members of the forum. I’m curious about how I’m going to react when someone doesn’t like them.  :sob:

Hart cables suck, or all your cables suck; let’s begin the experiment  :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.
