@Pharmaboy … Paging Mr Pharmaboy…

It is me. I mean, in that picture above…

Nice review. That matches almost 100% with my experience. I got a Clear Pro . It was on discount in Germany and I and could not resist the temptation. I also don’t have a issue with metallic sounding trebble. It seems that my 56 years old sense of hearing has the right amount of “roll off” in the trebble region. :grinning:
My biggest complain is the cable. They are so stiff. I you bend them they keep their direction. I don’t like them and got one from a third party manufacturer.

I like my lady in red.

Thanks! Yea the Clear Pro looks great

I just got the Dekoni Velour pads in yesterday and still forming my opinions on it. They’re definitely a lot warmer, in sound and feel. I even dare to say that it has made me contemplate on getting an Aeolus now because it fills the “I want a little more warmth”. Will need to have more listening time with them, but for the price, they’re a very nice and easy way to add some flavor/variety since it’s takes less than a second to swap the pads back and forth depending on mood.

Lyr 3 or a comparable tube amp…

You’ll never want to part with the Clear.

It is difficult to get these pads in Germany. But that’s not a priority for me. I can live with the original pads. Next up is a decent amplifier to buy. I am thinking of an RME ADI-2 FS. I’ve here two entry level amplifier from Fiio. They sound different, but not bad. I am not sure yet which signature I prefer. I will choose the one with the preferred sound signature as the reference in order to find a better amplifier with a similar signature. That’s the plan.

(I’m kidding). Your Clear look beautiful, though, good luck looking for an amp!

congratulations on the Clear Pro´s!

yes we in germany are a bit out of the game, if it´s about nice US build equipment like tube amps(Hagermann Tuba for example) or Schiit units in general. Shipping, taxes and fees, just kill the fun with importing from overseas - most of the times. There are still some good deals.
Cause the above named would be the first recommended solutions to go. At least by many on this and other forums.

I see why you are interested in RME, use one myself and (almost)couldn´t be happier. Just add a tube amp, like the Feliks Audio Echo and you are fine. - if it were that easy LoL . so many interesting options out there!
if you don´t need all the RME functions - the Schiit Bifrost 2 and the Asgard 3 by Schiit, might come similar in price(considering RME is around 1k - got mine for under/around 900 Euro) with shipping and taxes. From what I read, the Schiit stack seems to be great and better value. If you have some bucks left, adding the Lyr 3 instead of the A3, might be a good idea.
So if I had to start from scratch - I would skip the RME. But owning and using it, makes it unpossible, for me, to get rid of it. So I personally plan saving up for the B2 after I purchased some other amps…

I had ordered the Dekoni pads(for other headphones) to germany and payed 25 for shipping - that´s 50% of the pads price LoL. Though if one considers the original Focal pad prices, it´s a steal. Not sure about the Dekoni´s sound though. Shipping from Dekoni to munich took about 3 weeks. This was about a year ago.

Clears are great. They sound best out of the Echo among all the gear I’ve had including the Asgard 3 and Lyr 3. I like the nuanced, open sound of the Bifrost 2 a lot. Modius is also good if you don’t want to keep saving for its bigger brother, but wait a bit longer if you have the resolve. Bifrost 2 is totally worth it.

Great set you have there!! Got one to. You can get dekoni pads in U.K. just type dekoni europe in Mr. Google. I received mine in about a week and half (Portugal).

As for a SS amp i would look into Lake People/Violectric. Very solid for the Clear’s and in your case a plus as its German.
For tubes i would look into Feliks Audio (Polish). This one is on my shortlist.

which cable did you buy?
Does it match the original sound template?

Every time I see this thing it reminds me of an UHER tape machine. And the crime and spy stories I associate it with.

Thank you for the useful tips. I saw the RME on B-stock of a big german shop for musican equipment. That is worth a try. But I’m not in a hurry. Shiit now has a European subsidiary. So it will be easier to get hands on this stuff. Our company has got an USA subsidary and we sell a fair amount of machines to the USA. May be that our staff can help me to get hands on low price things like pads. That will not violate the customs regulations. I have to slow down the pace of new acquisitions the WAF and limited space for all the new gooddies force me to this step. :innocent:

Another matching pair, again I’m not being serious and am not making a recommendation - I have no idea if the combination works (but it is pretty). From Headamp’s Instagram feed:

From what I’m told the GSX-Mini has an awesome stage, great dynamics, and a fair amount of treble energy. That’s would be a an interesting pairing, but I wonder if it would be fatiguing.

Looks pretty awesome though.
