I also have the Fiio version and agree that it sucks. You really have to push to get 'em in there and it still cuts out. Jeez. I’ll look at the Geekaria one too.
Would this work?
I havent tried that one yet. It looks like the Fiio one but more durable.
The one I am currently using is this: https://www.amazon.ca/Geekria-Apollo-Female-Stereo-Adapter/dp/B075FN267W/ref=sr_1_11
There are two FiiO adapters:

Oh they released a new one! Yea I had the silver one. Silver bad. really bad.
Moon Audio has the Elegia for $699 ($200 OFF).
Better still, so does the sponsor of this site, headphones.com …
That is a great deal on a great set of headphones!
It’s going fast … too … “Father’s Day is coming” (okay, it doesn’t have the same ring to it as it’s GoT equivalent quip).
But, based on the email I just go, in addition to the $200 discount, you can get free 1-day shipping using the code “ELEGIA” … so if you were on the fence, it’s hard to imagine a better time to go for it.
By the pool today listening to Focal Elegia, celebrating Father’s Day with my pops. Very good set of cans.
after yesterdays “order” I read this thread a second time - have no more likes for today
I will try the Elegia with my ifi xDSD(with 5.3 - not latest GTO-Filter firmware) sound features
one beeing XBass+ and the other is named 3D+
from what I assume, the Elegia will be my first over ear, with use for these gentle soundtunings
with some IEMs the XBass+ was nice to have but nothing I left on - more song dependent
ok my 660s got a bit more fun with it, watching movies - but with music, I found them stock perfectly fine
with the 3D+ feature it can open up in the upper mids and highs - so my prefered already brighter IEMs(Tin T3 for example) and over ears(like 1990s with A-Pads or the sparkling 770s) did not allow it - this was hardly a helpful feature
my wifes 58x with accustic music and concerts did not show much change with 3D+ - but the 58x does not apply to DAC/AMP upgrades as mutch as other headphones - could be a reason
wonder if the combination of both soundfeatures might be similar(in the direction) to @resolve Andrews EQ - will try it out. Why not start with EQ - another funny rabbit hole. With pictures I use RAW format and have to develop/change/work on every single shot. Can´t be that hard to play around carefully with EQ.
the comment from @Torq Ian on the ES 100 single ended vs balanced opens my eyes - thank you very much! will play around with the combination.
The cable problem will be solved with Oidio sound uk cables - first a balanced 2,5 (have the drop adapter 4PIN XLR > 2.5 balanced)
later maybe a nice single ended version in gunmetal, diamond or orange/blue braided:

I think you’ll love 'em.
My favorite thing is how isolating they are despite the ports. I have a massive fan running right behind me and with the volume at medium volume I can’t hear it much at all.
Oh, and they sound good!
“Oh and they sound good” you got my type of humour
Isolation is our(Elegia Believers) priority- some might think. Otherwise we could get a decent open back or listen to loudspeakers.
At the munich high end show this may, I tried the Stellia and yes it’s not my budget(honesty first) and looks like a “Masters Home etablissement” Investment. But its foremost not my signature like so many others.
I prefer the AOC for style but not for soundstage and comfort for example. Mr Speakers Dan is in my eyes, someone to prefer/support. Had a nice Chat with him and love his work…
Sorry must come to an end.
This headphone fits my needs like our old Volvo.
Cheers and prost

@torq I think i just may have learned something my blind ignorance was enjoying that may fall into this category, I have 3 (called balanced amps) the schiit Jotunheim, aune x7s , and the thx aaa 789. all have balanced xlr outputs. wow, ok still learning.
Torq, do you mean DON’T get an adapter from 2.5 TRRS male to 3.5 TRS female? It isn’t good to go from BAL to SE?
Yes, that’s another way of saying it …
You do not want to go from a balanced headphone output to a single-ended headphone connection/configuration as doing so will short the grounds on the amplifier. That tends to fry the amplifier (unless it is protected against shorts, but then you’ll just trip the protection and get no sound).
Thanks! That’s certainly very useful info for me. So in a DAP that comes with 2.5 BAL it’d be a bad idea to use adapter to connect 3.5 TRS headphones to take advantage of BAL power?
It’d be a terminally bad idea … very likely instantly killing the amplifier on the DAP.
Don’t even try it …
Besides, even the $9 Apple Lightning to 3.5mm dongle can push the Elegia to 120 dB/SPL … I’m unaware of any DAP that has less power than that even single-ended.
So driving them balanced is more about getting better crosstalk/seperation and possibly extra resolution (due to the lower crosstalk) in this case anyway. The Elegia are very easy to drive.
Gotcha! Thanks for the wisdom^^
