Ok This is THE best! Response by far!
I saw that you measured the Brainwavz Microsuede pads and gave some feedback, but you never mentioned the sheepskin after this post. I know it was a while back, but I was wondering if you remember the effect that they had on the Elegia.
Also, has anyone had experience with the Dekoni Audio Elite Velour or their sheepskin pads?
I was browsing around on their website and their cables are very reasonably priced. The modular system is incredible! My only concern is that I saw no mention of the types of materials that they use to build the cablesā¦ie. OCC copper, OCC silver plated cooper, or just basic OFC cables. Do you happen to know?
I do not knowā¦ but that is a good question Iāll see if I can find outā¦
Ok, that would be greatā¦thank you!
Just finished up my long-term Elegia review. Itās my current go-to office headphone, but I do also EQ it. I go over my Elegia EQ profile in this video as well. I know some were asking for that.
Does anyone have any suggestions for alternate pads for the Elegia that donāt destroy the sound? Iāve never been fond of the stock pads.
Very informative and well done review, especially your EQ profile. Very much appreciated.
Just wondering what cables you are using with these and how you find them, in terms of flexibility and microphonics. They look like they might be Mogami or Canare based cables.
Thanks in advance.
I have a custom balanced cable that I use sometimes (from Koy), but at the moment Iām just using a standard 3.5mm cable from hifiman haha. Itās also not that great, but more functional than the Focal one.
Mine came in Yesterday. I am going through the braking period this morning. I am super impress with this headphones! I am about 45Min in and is not baking my ears!
I have none of the options turned on, on my iCan Pro, and is just awesome sounding. There will be a bit of EQ in the future for sure though.
Well, It has been a few weeks nowā¦ Here are my thoughts.
I am going to keep this one short and straight to the point.
Background story: I come from the planar world and have been using planarās for about 4yrs or so, I have tried closed cans like the ATH-MSR7 and it was a disaster for me and quickly hung them up.
After many weeks of home confinement, A sudden unprecedented shift of being on conference calls for insane hours (Up to 16hrs at one time) I quickly found that planars will bake your ears and are not meant for prolonged hours of useā¦ This can vary depending on what type of headphones you have, unfortunately for me neither of the ones I own work for this type of use.
I was looking for new closed back headphones that I can use for work, music, and that can be used for hours at a time and not get burned, fatigued, or break a neck.
After some research I ended up with two choices. The Dan Clark Audio Aeon 2 Closed and the Focal Elegia. I decided to go the Focal route, I am glad I did.
They are lightweight (A tad more than the Edition X v1), they are not shy whatsoever on the low-end line, and they definitely give you a nice punch. They are warm headphones that do not bore you at all and keep you working, listening to music, and glued to your conf calls.
If you are looking for a closed back for work, music, and long hours of useā¦. This is the one.
Nice review/impressions. The Elegia is one of those headphones that Iāve heard little, to no negative feedback on.
Glad youāre enjoying them.
Hey Fernando,
thanks for your take on the Elegia.
What Christopher wrote - you wonĀ“t find a lot to argue about or to dislike with this set.
Sorry to hear about your hefty long conference calls. This must be exhausting like ass.
Yes thatās a great write up and assessment. When Iāve saved a little I may get some though I would really like the Stelliaās. Theyāre a little too much for me to afford at the moment though.
Hereās some!
They gave me an instant headache. The stiff nature of Focals and the headband shape just ended up with a high pressure spot on top and headache. Couldnāt get used to it, very limited adjustability meant couldnāt really make it work.
Sounded fine though
ZMF on the flipside, comfort strap and I just bend the headband to suit shape of my head. So thatās a win.
Which one best describes your headshape?
I find I also prefer the suspended headband design in some of HiFiMANās headphones and softer leather headband design in ZMFs as it easily molds to various head shapes and distributes the weight evenly.
How am I supposed to know that. I have hair.
I have a big head, know that much. Caps always too small type head.
heh, shave it and weāll find out? Social distancing these days, so youāll have plenty of time for hair to grow back
Thanks @MartinTransporter @ValentineLuke @prfallon69
@MartinTransporter, Yea it sucked.
That call did gave me a good excuse to got get me a new set of headphones
I can see that, I did notice the headband was a bit stiff but nothing I couldnāt handle. If this headphones had been a bit heavierā¦ It definitely would have been a problemā¦ for many, I am sure.
@deafenears Muuuhahaha
