Hey BuffaloWing, thanks. I think we can arrange that at some stage
I noticed you’ve got a beautiful ZMF Verite. The only thing holding me back from getting ZMF is the exchange rate and import duties. As well as the fact that I have never been able to demo them. Did you get charged duties on import?
What? Where do you find a deal like that? I totally would have for only 1000 extra! At the same store here in Australia, the Focal Arche is $3799 AUD…
I’m financially irresponsible as it is, but that would really be pushing it though…
Plus I already have an RME ADI-2 DAC, so I can’t imagine it being much better if at all. Although the customised profiles for each headphone is certainly interesting.
It wouldn’t surprises me that a few eccentric and wealthy audiophiles would use Stellias outdoors but mine are still in their box and they won’t ever see the sun I’m afraid. That said weather and odd fashion are not the only factors at stake. In a large city like mine no one would be suicidal enough to wander the streets wearing $4,000 on their head. May as well wear t-shirts with “Mug Me” printed on them.
I am neither eccentric nor wealthy, paid my Stellia with my last penny but am wearing them everyday outside (in a big city). No one ever looked strange at me. I think it would have been different ten years ago. But now when every second guy wears beats phones etc. it’s not a big deal anymore. The Stellia still look like new (except the headband has darkened, which I like). I guess it just takes balls ahahahahahaha
I have both the Stellia and the ZMF VC. They are both great closed headphones. I plan to use the Stellia at my office, and the VC at home. I found that the VC required lots of burn-in time, about 200 hours before they sounded their best. I found the VC to be more comfortable than the Stellia, due to clamping force on the latter. This may loosen up over time. In terms of sound, the Stellia have an elevated bass, more forward mids, and more pristine treble. The VCs have a larger sound-stage, more warmth, and a very clear and natural presentation. So far, I find that the VC are less fatiguing; I can listen to them for hours on end with great pleasure. When I’m in the mood for a more clinical evaluation of music, I reach for the Stellias. In short, I love both of these headphones, but for different reasons.
