Hm, you cannot buy through Drop?

I am from Serbia, and I ordered from Drop. Actually, it was my father who ordered them, and he paid for both PDV (20% taxes) and customs.

Maybe you can contact Drop and see if there is anything they can do for you. It shouldn’t hurt to contact them

I will investigate buying by drop, I hope to be lucky in the meantime I will investigate other options. They have been very kind and helpful in this forum

The 6XX is actually the cooperation headphone with Drop - so they are only sold by Drop.
Drop was called Massdrop before, and they do exclusive cooperations with companies, they have put out a number of headphones for a more affordable price.

drop.com is the official website btw

Be sure to carefully investigate the customs fees and taxes in your country. Packages can be much more expensive if the fees in your country are high, sometimes they can be above 30% of the real value.

Philips also released some new headphones, but I haven’t heard people talking about them… they are the Fidelio X3 (the new X2), and the SHP9600 (new SHP9500).

I have read some reviews of drop articles (hifiman 4xx Akg kxx) so I have investigated they offer 95-98% of the audio of the original product with an unbeatable price. I’ve stayed away from Fidelio x2 based on my research (lots of bass and great soundstage but little clarity and detail)

They can offer 100% of the quality of many original products. The Massdrop vision involved group buying discounts to find new markets for older existing products. The changes have often been cosmetic (e.g., midnight blue) with no meaningful audio changes. Some products (e.g., Drop Focal Elex) are preferred by many over the general release predecessor (e.g., Focal Elear).

Some original Mass(Drop) products aren’t very good either – they may or may not have a commercial parent.

Yup, I don’t know if anything changed with the x3 and the other new model.

Either way, not to get you lost in all the options, I say try to go for the 6XX from Drop. If not, we will continue to help you out

I think the 6XX is more worth than the Sivga Phoenix just because of its comfort. It’s also a more dynamic and open headphone, that’s why we all love Sennheiser

Have you considered looking at used headphones? You ought to be able to find Sennheiser HD-580 or HD-600 in your price range. You then need to budget for, perhaps new earpads.

I’m guessing that there are barriers for DROP shipping to Venezuela, and do not have access to the models sold by DROP at a reasonable price.

Actually, you may be able to buy personal use electrical or electronic items reasonably, I just read over some of the information put out by your Centro Nacional de Comercio Exterior.

While a quick glance doesn’t tell me, I think it’s worth an inquiry. The Drop Sennheiser HD-58x is quite capable without needing a powerful amplifier. The HD-6xx will require significant power.

Thanks for your help. I must investigate if I can buy by drop without problems, 58X and 6XX I think they could give me everything I need. I will give priority to these models but if I have problems with drop I will probably buy a he400i version 2020 I have read that it has good means and they are very clear and detailed I think that for 169 it is a great value considering that it cost 500 5 years ago. Then my list would be like this in order of importance
Senn 58X
Senn 6XX
Hifiman He400i New version 2020
Sivga Phoenix
Hifiman Deva

Peoples, I need some advice for an on-line purchase of XLR cables to connect my Bifrost the Jotunheim. Something short enough so they are not laying all over my desk. Looking for good quality, but nothing too insane. Would 0.5 meters be too long do you think?

Thanks!

PYST from Schiit. Should be fine.

Out of stock, last I checked. That’s my inexpensive go-to though. It’s good stuff.

Longer than you wanted, but they are good.

If you have a soldering iron, you can make these for half the price.

Cable. Male XLR. Female XLR.

I made a pair of 10’ interconnects and it was $27.00, not including shipping.

You might want to look at Blue Jeans Cable. Odd name but solid cable from known components. You can specify exact length and type of wire you want. Would run $50 - $75 for 1.5 foot pair.

Blue Jeans Cable, balanced cables

I am going to try to make them myself. Will need to look up the wiring instructions, but shouldn’t be too hard. Order is in. Thank you!

That’s just what I got to attach my BiFrost to the STAX amp. I had them made by Dyson, not a bit too long and not too dang short. He has 11 inch ones on Amazon, charged me $2 more for 18 inch.

Here you go.

I have been using a similar set than this one in my Liquid Platinum (TRS/XLR). Cables are very stirdy and 1.5ft seems the length you want. And price is unbeatable.

If you’re insecure about the low price, get a premium set elsewhere as well (e.g.: amazon) and return one of them. And most importantly, let us know if you can hear the difference.

Cheers.

A 100ft XLR cable for $30 USD? Holeeshite! That is so cheap.
