To “kill a giant”, in my world at least, you have to beat said giant(s) in more categories than you don’t, while still coming in at a lower price-point.
Moreover, you have to yield a more desirable and enjoyable experience, overall, to the point where you dethrone an existing headphone - even with value taken into account.
They don’t do that, for me.
They beat some of the flagships, in some areas; but none of them in enough to replace anything I currently own.
And I wouldn’t trade you any of my current cans for the HEDDphone, even if I could recover 100% of the price delta in doing so.
Nor would my collection change if doing it all over but with the availability of the HEDDphone.
I don’t plan on giving these up now I have them. Which should be seen as a considerable endorsement given the company they’re keeping. But they’re not removing anything I own from my collection, and as such, they’re not killing anything.
