Honestly, very well put.
We should get this framed.
Hi Dastorious! Your situation was me a couple years ago, looking for an all-rounder.
A couple recommendations (that I own):
Beyerdynamic DT770i = I donât know how easy they are to find these days, but that was the headphone that got me through. Did not have the harshness of the Sony 7506s (OR the higher impedance 770s, which were way too sibilant), and for that budget everything was pretty enjoyable to listen to (I tracked an audiobook with them, mixed drums and songs with them, plugged them into PS4 for gaming, and with the V-Moda boom mic they make a great pair of PS4 cans).
They are a little too warm (ie explosions sound great), and after listening to my Elegias they donât reveal AS MUCH depth in instruments (body of a snare drum, for instance) and are much weaker in dynamics/clarity, but for all around listening and rocking out to live balls-to-the-wall NIN for under $200, they were damn skippy.
Sony 7506:
I have a love/hate relationship with this headphone. Itâs comfortable/light, and on any Blu-Ray/DVD extra youâll see every sound person wearing these cans. Theyâre an LA production staple. Do they sound amazing? Hell no!
But are they a good all-rounder and something that is an investment to mixing? Yes, yes they areâŚ
As far as surround goesâŚI have the PS4 headset which has â7.1 virtual surroundâ and well, gimmicky. Same thing when companies are talking about âdual crystal oscillators,â IDGAF. I located everything just as well from the DT770i.
Good luck with the budget hunting! Try some, see what works, and donât forget about enjoying the content and creating over agonizing about gear!
I would recommend New Bee NB10. According to the official statement, it can âReduce Ambient Noises by Up to 99%â, and its ear pads can also meet your comfort requirements.
Wow, I didnât even know NewBee made headphones. I do use their tips a lot.
Have you tried these headphones @Opamp9952?
I am curious to know of they sound better than would be guessed by the web page.
Yes, I have an NB10, its noise reduction function is really good at this price level.
I can second the quality of the V Moda BoomPro. Itâs almost too good, because itâs not compatible with absolutely everything making options more limited if youâre looking for closed backs under $200 that support itâŚ
