Kind of strange setup. Topping dx5 w/ a topping a30 pro amp. Playlist would be anything from the “anjunadeep” record label. Thanks for the assistance.
I can’t believe i am saying this, I am seriously considering buying the Hifiman He 1000se. I was always turned off by Hifiman quality issues. They seem to have cleaned up their build quality. These headphones have such great reviews. The He 1000se is probably the most detailed headphone on the market. I am also impressed by large Soundstage. The only negative i could come up with are cheap looking cables.
@Resolve Any chance of measuring HEKSE with 5128 or Gras ? I looked around but i only saw minidspears measurement of it and the unit looks like the older version.
Sadly no, I don’t have that unit available anymore. I’ll need to get a new one in.

It’s $2k right now and it’s tuning kinda needs EQ. A reliable up to date measurement would help a lot.
First, welcome to the forum!
I’ve owned both and still have the HEKse. The LCD X and HEKse are both terrific headphones. Had I not had an “uncontrollable urge” (sorry, been listening to DEVO tonight) to purchase the Susvara a second time, I would still have both.
The bass has more emphasis in the LCD X, but that doesn’t mean the HEKse is anemic. Like the Susvara, the bass is 100% there when your source puts it there. The HEKse is not as even-sounding at the Susvara, but nothing is. The HEKse is probably the highest resolving headphone on the market, but also is a smidge hot in the treble (which accounts for part of that detail). The LCD X is one of the closest to a perfect tuning from Audeze, and is used a lot for studio work. (IMO either HEKse or LCDX benefit from a bit of EQ.)
Given Trance and EDM is your jam, if it’s bass you can’t get enough of probably the LCD X makes sense for you. If it’s overall energy from the mix you want, I listen to EDM a lot with my HEKse’s. They really work for bands like LCD Soundsystem.
Both LCD X and HEKse are an incredible value right now. I’m jealous of what I paid for both of them just a couple of years ago!
Spatial qualities, separation and detail of this headphone is kinda crazy. I owned Arya Stealth, Edition XS and Ananda before. They are not close.
Arya Stealth is blunt and intimate sounding in comparison. HEKSE have micro gradations in it’s sound. HEKSE does this gradation while having sense of space, distance and separation. It’s like you are zoomed out and zoomed in at the same time if that makes sense. It’s like you are using wide camera lense and microscope at the same time.
I’m very curious how up to date unit measures on 5128 rig against other and more recent Hifiman offerings. I felt like it’s bass more prone to seal break.
