ā€œYour bathroom is my bathroom. How are you?ā€ Actually I’m Taiwanese, speaking mandarin.

And how does everyone know I’m a newbie here, is there a notification??

Yes there is, though I imagine it isn’t visible to the people it’s talking about. Fun, makes me wonder whether one’ll pop up for me whenever I come back after not posting for a while :stuck_out_tongue:

The TH-X00 Ebony was a favourite of mine for a long time— the recessed lower mids, slightly accentuated middle mids, and occasionally painful treble peak aside they were pretty damn good cans for what I paid, even factoring in use of a third-party courier service to ensure that they got to the Philippines unmolested and in one piece. Headstage was ridiculously wide considering they were only semi-open headphones (though I’m of a mind that the internal cup reflections might actually aid in the presentation of headspace at the expense of muddled sonic ā€œimagesā€ due to that reverb). Actual resolution wasn’t great compared to the HD600/650, but the better ā€œdynamismā€, the lively sound, was something I found I actually enjoyed in contrast to some others, haha.

Sub-bass rumble was excellent, and having long since shipped them off to a… friend, that’s the one aspect I miss most about them. The Fostex biodyna drivers have a bit of a cult following for good reason, as far as I’m concerned— all headphones I’ve tried that use these drivers (so far: Klipsch HP-3, TH-X00 Ebony, TH-900, TH-610, Audioquest Nighthawk, probably some others I’ve forgotten) all had great resolution, texture, and were designed to provide surprisingly encompassing headstages, though basically all of these headphones kinda suck in various aspects of frequency response; that’s the main reason I’m curious to hear a ZMF Eikon is because it’s allegedly the one headphone using a biocell diaphragm that’s sedate in the treble without being mushy and gooey like the Nighthawk is.

I know there’s at least one dude on the internet who’s basically designed a headphone from the ground up using TH-900 drivers (stronger magnetic fields than the similar-ish drivers in the TH-X00/600/610, HP-3, Audioquest, E-MU, etc.) and I’m curious to get ears on that headphone, which allegedly maintains all the strengths of the TH-900 without the horribly offensive FR. International travel is very much a pain though, gragh.

Feed me spicy food, and I assure you, your bathroom will become my bathroom.

Mi casa es tu casa, I think is what I meant. But the other way is funnier, so I’ll just leave it.

I just got a used emu teak th-x00 but might mod with detachable cables. I got them for rap, some electronic type music. Got the cables upgraded.

But have you tried a TR-X00 on a hybrid amp? It’s really good!

Those definitely aren’t stock earpads. They look like MrSpeakers Alpha pads, or maybe the Brainwavz equivalent.

Do you like what you’re hearing?
