This is hysterical if you speak Spanish!
(I make typos and grammatical errors all the time. This isn’t a jab, it just made me laugh)

Is that those delicious pastry things?
It’s good you were able to hear them in your own environment. Sounds like they’re just not for you.
And my apologies if I hurt your feelings. Didn’t think I was coming off rough, because that wasn’t my intent. I was only curious to your experience.
This isn’t a one taste fits all hobby and I’m totally cool with that.
No. Definitely not. Those are churros.
“Chorro” is the diarrhea.
That seems like terrible marketing…
If you have any Mexican bakery’s around, during Christmas they often offer “buñelos”. They’re similar to churros, but are pretty much a flat, fried tortilla with cinnamon and sugar.
Thanks for checking out and for the feedback @ValentineLuke! The design on these is definitely spectacular!
@Chrono I think you had an excellent review. I was in no way bashing your work. I knew when I saw the review pop up this was going to go one of two ways lol. And the other 50% would be confused, bummed out, etc.
Again, excellent job and keep up the good work.
Thanks for reading it @Rhodey, I really appreciate it and I always like checking out the feedback you guys have, as well as your experiences with all this awesome gear!
These are delicious! Growing up, there were bunelos dagu and bunelos aga variations.
Yeah absolutely. You can use their taste in comparison to yours to get a feel for something you haven’t tried. But I’m speaking about what I already own or have tried. I’m not going to start to like/dislike something based on a review. I’ll use my own experience and go from there.
Some tend to jump on a bandwagon and like/dislike something based on a review or reviewers. And in some cases without ever hearing the item.
But understand what you’re saying and coming from!
Definitely, got it. In this game (among others), you gotta trust your own ears and know/develop your own ears.
For sure. I was a big fan of the hd800S for a long time. And I liked them even off a ss lol. Now, after hearing other headphones and amps I kinda giggle at myself. Like seeing a picture of your junior high outfit or something haha.
And not saying it’s a bad headphones. Hell, I may buy it again one day for the stage. But after I heard the Verite and others, my mind and ears changed. I also think I had HD800S brain burn in. That is a real thing lol
Cross Colors…
HD800S and SS – that’s courageous. JK. That junior high outfit comment is hilarious!
I get it. I used to think Superlux HD681 were the shizz.
@driftingbunnies
“I don’t have any issue with people liking what they like. I just don’t think it makes sense to tell someone that their experience with the headphone is wrong when clearly there are other examples of people experiencing the same thing. Everyone has their own take on things.”
Its not about telling someone’s experience is wrong, its not stating there many other reviews and experiences that contradict…many more. There are many other reviews that have vastly differing opinions. Its just if you tend to just look at a few your liable to be mis-lead. Not intentionally.
Seems like reviews are becoming a place for showing off ones photographic skills and what whisky to drink while listening???
My advice as always is to listen to yourself before deciding. Buy from a trusted establishment with a good return policy…and post your own experience.
Enjoy the music!
Alex
That hd800S off ss was more of a fps gaming setup too. It was good for that! Lol
But I did use it for music too.
Man…what was I doing?!
Yeah, they’re definitely not for me. Not sure why you think you hurt my feelings but I don’t own Empyreans so I’m not really that emotionally invested in them. Just like someone was trying to show that others enjoy the empyrean, I just wanted to state that I agreed with Chrono’s experience with it even on different gear. Everyone has their own preferred gear and if you enjoy your genre of music on it, all power to you. In my setup with my genre and my preferred signature, the Empyrean is not for me.
The main drawback with this is that in this hobby, unfortunately, many of the reviews out there aren’t particularly trustworthy. I’m not saying the ones you linked fall into that category, but unfortunately we can’t assume that because a product receives a lot of positive reviews that it necessarily performs that way. A) the hobby is quite subjective as many people in this thread have noted, and B) because many biases and framing effects have such a significant influence, it’s difficult to rely on many mainstream publications.
My recommendation is, as you’ve said, listen for yourself. I completely agree that this is key. But for those who don’t have that luxury, it becomes a bit more challenging. This is where our project of producing honest, sober takes is trying to help. Now it’s fine to disagree, but at the very least it has to be acknowledged that Chrono’s was an honest, and thorough take on this headphone.
