Music and drink pairings

Not lame at all. If I was stranded on a desert island with an unlimited supply of fresh water and could have only one other beverage, it would be black coffee. Ahead of any alcohol. Absolutely.

Would be ideal, too, if I could use that fresh water to grow a certain plant. :slight_smile:

Wise choice

no coffee = headache
alcohol = headache

Hookah, Wild Turkey 101, Monster Rehab Tea + Lemonade and a variety of music including 2014 Forest Hills Drive by J Cole, OK Computer by Radiohead and Us by Empress Of.

Listening on my Aeon 2 Noire’s through my iFi hip DAC. I’d been running EQ on these but I couldnt be bothered to set up peace or roon on my laptop, so no EQ right now learning to appreciate these cans in their default state tonight. Not without flaws, but really good nonetheless.

+1 on the A2 Noire. Listening to mine with the KannDAP and with some Old Forester 86.

Pleasant to the senses. -Cheers

I need to give their 86 a try. I’m from Kentucky so the wells bourbon is usually standard Old Fo. I’ve had a few too many, one could say.

Context is key, right? Cake-day yesterday. Day-off today. No guilt tomorrow.

2Ks songs in general in the playlist. Rig is not portable by design, but it’s enough to have a listen:

Cheers. :beers:

Tonight’s pairing is the standard WT 101 with a nice hookah. The night is brisk but not uncomfortable.

Music is the album punk2 by brakence. Very gen-z but also very interesting from a style, writing and production standpoint. The album intentionally clips its bass a notable amount, which is definitely annoying, but it only does it for some effect which I can tolerate. Otherwise the production is actually quite nice. Some good microdynamics and wonderful stereo play. Overall a nice sounding album outside of the clipped bass. The genre is heavily hip-hop influenced pop, with vague elements of rock and a hint of emo.

Seems to follow in the trend of gen-z pop that borrows heavily from other genres like hip hop and rock established by artists like Dominic Fike (also highly recommended).

Equipment is Oneplus 8 Pro with USB Audio Player Pro, EQ based off of Oratory1990’s with small tweaks, iFi Hip DAC and LCD-2F.

EDIT: Another album tonight is Dying is your Latest Fashion by Escape the Fate. One of the few albums from my ~2006-2011 emo/post-hardcore phase that I still enjoy. Unfortunately the production is mediocre. Not awful as far as rock/post-hardcore goes, but it is definitely unclear, lacking in dynamics, and tonally off.

I’m disappointed that yesterday did not include any Cinco de Mayo pairings. A playlist of covers of Tequila and too many Margaritas… for example.

Darn forgot all about posting here. As we had plenty of Margaritas after 4pm. Late but !

And the music? Mariachi? Olmec drumming? Trio Los Panchos?

@DacTango

Have you ever tried WT Rare Breed? Pricey but worth it.

Mahler and rye.

Which Mahler, or you just got it on loop?

I’ve been listening to the 8th to try and get a grasp on it before moving on to another. So I did one listen of the 8th, and then put on Dinosaur Jr. Now I’m surfing endlessly through Netflix looking for something to watch, but will probably go back to the headphones.

Another hookah night. Russell’s Reserve bourbon is the drink of choice. Currently listening on my DCA Aeon 2 Noire’s.
