Positional Variance of the HD 800 S?

My head is massive. I didn’t anticipate how little headband adjustment the HD 800 S would have. The headband is extended all of the way out, I then need to tilt the headband forward, and push the headphone from the headband down into my head(It otherwise eventually sinks down as I wear it longer)

Despite these issues, I personally find it more comfortable than the HD 6X0 headphones.

With that said, I can tell my ears are not completely in the centre, but slightly lower in the cup towards the bottom, and then of course the headband being tilted forward is another thing. My question is: how much will this change the sound quality of the headphone? For better, or for worse.

Probably not that much as long as your whole ear’s in the cup. If I were you I’d mute one channel and then try to reposition the cup on the playing channel and see if you could tell a difference as you move it around. Since you don’t need the muted cup to be in any particular position, you should now be able to freely put the playing cup anywhere?

HD800S has one of the lower acoustic impedance designs out there, so it’s probably a bit less sensitive to cup placement than other headphones.
