Hi @Resolve, have you had a chance to hear the IE 900 yet? @Precogvision said in his review that with EQ applied it’s easily the best single DD IEM he’s heard. I’m considering buying one to use with my Qudelix 5K (like you said, Equalizer APO in your pocket!). Specifically, I’m wondering how an EQ’d IE 900 compares to the U12T.
I haven’t heard it yet sorry.
I know the question wasn’t aimed at me, but I just wanted to add that the ie900 also scales really really well with source gear. For context, I heard the u12t at canjam and instantly liked it that I was going to start saving up for it (I had already owned the ie900 at that point). Then I tried it with better source gear, specifically a desktop tube amp, and it responded VERY well. So much so that I decided to forget the u12t and stick with the ie900. I personally think the ie900 is good value that if it were priced the same as the u12t I’d still buy the ie900 knowing what I know now, but with the caveat of having to find a synergistic source for it. Hope some of that was useful to you.
Thanks, that’s really helpful! I hadn’t considered that the IE 900 would scale with source gear. I think I might get one when they’re back in stock.
Some dynamic driver IEMs sound better with a decent amount of power driving them (relatively speaking). I don’t know the Qudelix 5K so this post isn’t to suggest it won’t power the IE900 adequately. But it might be worth experimenting if you have other amps around or if you find the IE900 doesn’t sound as good as you’d hoped.
I had the IE900 on a loaner tour through another forum and found it better out of a desktop amp than my DAP.
I think the IE400Pro is considered as the best of the new IE xxx series if the IE900 is not taken into account.
Anybody compared the 400s with the 900s?
I’ll jump in and ask this if I may. I have the IE 300 and like it a lot with certain tips. Do you think the IE 400 Pro would be a good leap forward, such that I would sell the IE 300 and keep the IE 400 Pro? Thanks!
Sennheiser just unveiled their IE 600 IEM
I quite enjoy the ie 900 with the right pairing so it’s good to see their iem line all updated.
Crinacle said it’s better than IE900 tuning and just as detailed.
Interested in some comparisons.
I just ordered a set of IE 300s. I have a lot of trouble with most ‘full size’ IEMs hurting my outer ear because I think the cartilage of my ears is shaped a bit oddly. Hoping that the IE 300s small form factor work well with my ears.
Update to this:
Got them and immediately they felt so much more comfy than any IEM I’d tried before. Played around with the tips and found that the memory foam medium size ones worked best. Then had them in my hears for like 7 hours straight (4 hours of music and then 3 hours of a zoom call just to try it out) and by the end I could still barely feel them in my ears.
I like the sound too. I know some reviews said it’s quite bass heavy, and maybe it’s just the type of music I listen to (lots of upbeat pop and musical soundtracks), but I didn’t really find that to be the case.
This is definitely a form factor that I’ll look at in the future if I go for another pair of IEMs. If anyone has suggestions of similar shaped ones, I’d appreciate it.
Can’t really find these for sale anywhere. I wonder when they’ll be available.
They launched first in East Asia, with Europe, NA, and other regions to follow later. If you don’t mind buying blind, and buy from HiFiGo, then you can get is as fast as HiFiGo can ship it to you.
Huh, I guess that makes sense. No issue waiting, especially when HiFiGo is $200 over MSRP.
Was just weird that everyone and their dog has reviewed them a month ago and they’re still not available in NA.
It’s still in hype season. I guess I’ll wait a little longer.
Nah go for the 900! They scale phenomenally well !
Lol that’s a good way to put it.
I saw what they did to that one. Increased the MSRP 2022 so the 900 can be offered for the MSRP 2021 in future sales events.
I think all the prices increased across the line . Fwiw I thought the og price of the 900 is a good value. I’d personally pay more for it now knowing how capable they are, but they are picky. I just happen to get lucky with great synergy so I ended up not returning it.
