Whatās the best study (tutorial learning) audio gear (headphones, DAC amp)?
Whatās the best for speed watching tutorials?
We should get a sense of price and value. If you recommend >1, rank them best to worst and give them points and ideally a price.
example: 10 model a $100, 8 model b $1
gear
- DAC amp
- ventilating headphones: They keep skin dry and healthy, and provide relief from non-ventilated headphones.
- noise cancellation headphones: If your room is soundproofed, this might be unnecessary. Reduce sound sent to and received from the environment.
- ANC (active noise cancellation)
- PNC (passive noise cancellation)
What Iāve heard about ANC
- It cancels white noise, but not irregular noise.
- It sounds worse.
I have
- FX Audio DAC-X6
- Koss KSC75: Its better than ATH-M50X, worse than 280 PRO. Itās open back and vents.
- Sennheiser HD 280 PRO: Ignoring the closed back sound, it sounds the same as Stax SR-5 and better than KSC75, ATH-M50X, and Skull Candy IEMs.

Denafrips or Holo May⦠is it a toss of the coin? Iām convinced that a āDaveā is not worth 10K.
TIA
How do I go about posting for purchase advice. Iām new here. Thanks
Welcome @Pappaboomboom !
As you are new, your first few posts need to be manually approved.
I have moved your post into the General Purchase Advice thread. We have a mega-thread for all these kinds of posts and it gets quite a bit of traffic, so Iām sure someone will be able to help you out.

Hi all! I canāt make a new thread in this subforum, so Iāll join the mega thread fun. Iāve pretty much said it all in my post in the welcome thread, so Iāll just quote that here. But the tl;dr is:
- looking for IEMs for wireless Bluetooth configuration
- total budget well under $1k, seeking used items only.
- love jazz music especially, so while Iām seeking a versatile set, the best dynamics and soundstage for jazz music under $500 used is the sweet spot. Dunu SA6ās seem to me the most likely candidate ā thoughts?
- once again, versatility is the goal here, as I will be using them for a lot of academic work in my home office, but also during short commutes and flights, light exercise (walking/hiking and whatever else I can gently swing), cooking and hanging around the house, and for serious listening in quietude until I subsequently acquire wired cans.
For that reason I plan to pair with a Bluetooth adaptor set like the Fiio UTWS5ās to use with hifi and midfi sources on iPhone. Given this intention, I list the SA6ās as my primary candidate, as even buying used the Thieaudio Monarchās or Clairvoyanceās together with UTWS5 adaptors would likely present too much of a budget stretch.
Iāve also given thought to the Hifiman Ananda BTās, which would preclude the need for additional amplification. While this would provide the nice benefit of ticking the wireless/Bluetooth box, together with the added bonus of a nice set of wired cans to start exploring higher-end over-ear listening, they donāt exactly match the desired use case of mobility and convenience. Iād probably be happy enough with the IEMs and then moving to wired cans and a Schiit stack when Iām ready for something new.
Thanks for reading. My welcome post is quoted below. This is an X-post to the other purchase advise megathread: puzzlingly, we seem to have two going in parallel.

Long story short, the PTO at our Elementary School in my district is looking for more ways to spend fundraiser funds for tech. Any recommendations on bulk headphones that donāt suck? We need to stay in the $8-$15 range to accommodate enough students with the budget. Thanks!
In case youāre wondering why no-one has replied, you posted in an informational thread that no-one is looking at.
Why donāt you try again, and post your question in the General Purchase Advice thread, and hopefully youāll have better luck.

That helped a lot. Thank you
I get it that you need some rules before allowing new members to make new threads, but the ā15 daysā rule seems a bit too strict. Black Friday offers will be over by then ![]()
I am a newby, especially when you consider the changes in technology since I last shopped for headphones. I have spent way too many hours, on Headphone.com, this forum, and multiple online and YouTube reviews and videos. Until recently, my top 4 choices were Audeze Maxwell Wireless Gaming Headphones, Sennheiser HDB 630 Wireless Audiophile Headphones, Focal Bathys Wireless Closed-Back Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones, and Sennheiser RS 175 Wireless Headphones. Just returned the Sennheiser SR175ās I bought as they were disappointing to my ears and did not work with the optical outputs of either the TV or my receiver. The HDB 630ās would have the same issue, but I understand there is a solution to this. I want to spend under $700, less is better, but what I want most is the best headphones for music and television, wireless if possible. I will live with corded if the listening experience difference is notable. My system consists of a Roku to a Denon AVRX4400H, to an LG OLED65B9PUA. I do not care about portability or noise canceling. I do care about comfort. I would consider open or closed back, as well as earbuds. Again, sound and comfort are my priorities, in that order. We have an empty nest, so the only time I am using headphones is when my wife is sleeping or I am watching something she has zero interest in. Any and all advice is appreciated including referrals to trusted review sources. Thank you in advance.
