It’s easy to verify on a mac. I think option clicking the bluetooth menu bar icon will show the active codec. But I may be misremembering. iPhone isn’t so easy. (There may be an appstore app that can do it these days. Someone here probably knows)
But, again, multiple audiophile websites say it doesn’t have it. For now, that’s enough for me.
This, again, has a cost. My iphone uses public high speed wifi nearly everywhere. If I turn on the personal hotspot, I now stream from my cell data (apple music, amazon hd, whatever) to send signal through wifi to the poly. You can’t have personal hotspots and wifi at the same time (at least I haven’t found a way to do it)
I discovered this with a dap that had airplay built-in.
But, again you are not able to demonstrate that it does not. Ergo your initial statement is not fact, this possible disinformation.
At the end of the day it is your experience, and if you are able to enjoy using Bluetooth as the preferred medium to use then so be it.
I sincerely think a Bluetooth headset, be it something like the Airpods, or the plethora of other over the ear options is the answer. By placing the absolute emphasis on Bluetooth, lossy audio is the only option available. There is nothing wrong with lossy, it is plentiful and always available.
Please excuse me!
I canceled the TIDAL subscription the day before yesterday, and when I opened the app yesterday morning I had a pop-up with this offer to subscribe to TIDAL masters again at a price of € 9.99 per month.
It actually seems to have been an individual offer, for people who recently canceled, sorry again.
Chord needs new models with updated software
Indeed. Unfortunately, I think BT 4.1 hardware is the limit here. Otherwise they would have added more codecs via firmware update. As far as I know, 4.2 is the first BT hardware implementation that can handle some of the better codec speeds. I am not 100% positive of this. But it would be ridiculous of chord not to include aptx and aac via firmware update if it were possible to do so.
The fact that they supported airplay so easily is really awesome though. Even today, doing that isn’t an out of box thing on many products. Many android daps need a 3rd party app. And it’s a pretty annoying and cumbersome experience.
I wonder if I cancel if they’ll do the same?
You have any issues with the poly?
Interested in a mojo but also thought about the poly as well. But I don’t want to deal with the headaches I’ve heard about.
I see the sale, anyone know when they ship? They are backordered…
Good looking out!
No issues, knock on wood. Been using it as a Roon endpoint daily for the last few weeks. Yesterday was the first time I tried switching to Bluetooth for the above discussion. Switched back seamlessly, plenty of power to drive a certain LCD-2.2 which is what I’ve use for walking around, otherwise using it in DAC mode when connected to the main amps.
Airplay is fine too, shows up and connects easily even on two different wireless zones that are hard wired together via the main router.
I need to try the sd card option at some point, so I can use on an
or
Some good deals on new and used units.
Ok cool. Yeah, I have an iPhone so I’ll use airplay and or directly to my phone with just the mojo until/if I pick up a poly.
I’ll also use it as a roon end point. My hiby r6 pro drops all the time. Annoying…
Thanks for your time and info.
Where I got this information (and I can’t find the source) mid june was indicated for shipping (based on my memory, which may not be reliable). But I think it was somewhere on this forum.
Thanks! I think I saw June 15th somewhere but can’t confirm either.
Edit: hit them up and they said late June. Could be earlier or later.
@taronlissimore do you guys still carry chord mojos? I see them on the site but sold out. Just curious. Thanks!
Apparently Apple has enabled lossless streaming now…I don’t have a Music subscription (yet) so can anyone confirm on macOS?
In addition, I don’t see any DAC option settings on the Music app…currently running 11.4
It looks like they are doing a phased rollout. It may be a while before we all get access. I just checked and do not have it yet.
Nope, not here yet
Mine just popped up on my iPad. Reboot - seems to be working for lots of folks.
Works on my laptop now. Complete with “hook up a DAC doofus” warning on 24-192.
Does the sample rate switching work with local files as well or just Apple Music?
Mine showed up after toggling some shit in the preferences, also automatically showed up on my iPad and iPhone too.
Too late to play with, have to wait until tomorrow…
