I’m sorry I had it reversed, I corrected it and thanks for pointing it out.
There’s a big difference in current requirement between a Susvara and Empyrean or LCD2. The Euforia would absolutely struggle trying to power Sus
Agreed. My post responded to the a priori concept that OTL amps should never be used to drive planars. My experience is that they can drive some planars (e.g. Meze, LCD, etc.) more than adequately and even to world-class levels.
Just got these in today. Haven’t had too much time on the head with these yet but I like what I’m hearing so far. Punchy well extended bass, upper mid range presence is definitely more noticeable vs traditional Audeze tuning, mids sound less thick(?). Treble isn’t harsh/sibilant but more forward vs LCD-2/RAD-0. I like it.
Nice photos! And I like the stand too
I just bought them for the cable. I’ll post a full review of the cable once I get it.
Where did you get the headphone atand?
I got mine from Thomann: ROOMs Audio Line FS Pro A SL Headphone Stand – Thomann United States
Thank you - love that stand.
@Resolve What’s the latest EQ revision you’ve come up with?
out of curiosity do you plan to use the exact same DAC and amp etc?If not why would you want to copy somebody’s EQ?
Its a great starting point from someone using measurements and with a good understanding of it all.
Changing DAC and Amp between one high end chain to my own high end chain won’t magically change the FR significantly. Doesn’t work like that.
Apart from the headphone itself, the biggest difference will between our ears and our preferences. But I’ve used his EQ in the past and find it aligns fairly well with my own, though I tend to like a few db more bass.
I received a set of LCD-5’s today. I’m powering them off of a THX 887. I know there’s higher rated amps for these, I need to figure out what they are however. I also have a SMSL SU-8s (which is fully balanced). And, I’m running everything via USB from a new MBP M1 Max. Running both Spotify and Apple Music (lossless).
I’ve been playing w/ different EQ options - including the Boom 3D app to try different configurations.
Question - what’s the best way to EQ these on a MBP?
Also, if my amp is not recommended, can you tell me what is, and why?
Easily the best on macOS
Thank you so much! Really helpful.
Do you know of any recommended EQ’s for the LCD-5’s (using the 10 Band EQ in that app)?
@Resolve posted his EQ recently in this thread Audeze LCD-5 - Official Thread - #178 by Resolve
I appreciate this, and while I tried to use it as a reference, I don’t know that I can really get the 10 Band EQ to align (from how I understand the screenshot above). For example, changing 5720hz, then 6700hz, then 7800hz, then 12k hz, don’t exactly align with the options I have via the software on my end.
Because of that, I was hoping to get someone’s input based on what is available. I have 32, 64, 128, 250, 500, 1k, 2k, 4k, 8k, and 16k.
While I mostly use the Headphone EQ feature of the app (pre-built EQ profiles for lots of headphones, but unfortunately LCD-5 is not in the AutoEQ database yet), I am pretty sure you can use a custom profile with the exact bands and db and q values you want, see Rogue Amoeba | Custom profiles for Headphone EQ.
Let me know if you have trouble and I will try it myself (I will need it when my LCD-5 arrives lol)
I’m not seeing an option to create a custom profile in the app unfortunately. I can see the pre loaded headphone EQ options, but that’s as far as I can go with it.
