That is correct. I already own a iDSD Micro and iCan Micro and I was happy with the X Bass performance which gave me the hint that I should go for the Pro. I don’t use it on everything, there is plenty of music that is beast heard clean. With that said, my main genre calls for bass.
yeahh the xBass option is very nice to have (comes from a ifi xDSD user) for some songs.
good for you, having a main genre! - I could not really tell what my main genre is, though I get by without the Bass Boost half of the time
Likewise, very nice setup. Looks like you planned it all out well, down to the lighting.
Thanks @bigshel99, Yes, I work from home quite a bit (long hours too) so I wanted a setup where I could feel relax, or anybody that comes in for that matter. My wife likes to come hang around in my office because is very relaxing… The idea is to forget that is my office and feel like I am away when is that time
I need to get myself one of those colour changing smart magic light things.
Big fan of Lifx lights, their new app does give it much more face lift.
I will look at them, the Phillips version is very easy to get locally once the madness ebbs.
I also own the Hue’s and they are staying behind… Lifx is way ahead of them in sense of the app… For outdoor lights Hue wins.
Hi,
I think that, even with less sophisticated gear, you can grab some live moments since it also increases your concentration on the Concert actually playing (musicians, venue configuration, reverberation quality).
Personally, I continue to try to configure my setup into my environment to stick to the live Concert or, to be more precise, to the registered Concert since clearly what we listen to in reproduced audio is what the sound engineer has mixed and mastered.
Actually, in Classical field, if I compare my Hagen loudspeakers to the headphones I own, the most natural ones are the RAAL SR1a, not really for their “out of your head” sound (a bit excessive expression for headphones), but for their very good linearity and resonances free rendering.
This is what is getting most of the use right now, this or the iFi Micro/HD800.
The Fiio dac/amp on the picture is an impressive little thing and with the balanced cable the lcd i3 shines.
That’s a sweet little setup!
The FiiO has been mentioned on another thread (I forget which one) with really positive feedback.
Do you EQ the i3’s?
Thanks!!
Yes I do EQ them and the Fiio is perfect for that since the app is very useful even though I like the ES100’s app much more easy and useful than the Fiio.
Those Audeze can compete with many full over the ears cans!!
That’s a sweet unit.
We have a fellow forum member that owns one. Really nice.
Very nice. I want to try these myself. Though perhaps the most wanted is Shure KSE1200/1500.
I have read a lot about those two, but the amplifier connected by a cable to the phone and then tied to…it is a mess!!
The good thing about using either the Fiio btr5 or the ES100 via bluetooth is having your phone free and the chance to roll the IEM cable with the little dac/amp an put it in an forgotten pocket or clip it on the neck of your shirt .
But I’m aware those two Shure you mention could be addictive if you have them.
Cool setup @Hansel!
I do really like the ES100 app and hope they upgrade the hardware. Something like the BTR5 soundquality, produced by Radsone would be really nice for my rarely used IEMs.
My wife’s BTR3 is okay-ish and from what I read, the BTR5 is actually the best choice. Would even pick it over the Dragonfly units.
This could be a really interesting comparison:
Dragonfly Red/Cobalt vs the BTR5 and the Shanling device.
I am ok for wired/mobile with the ifi xDSD, though it is not always a good match for synergy, with some headphones.
The main selling point for me with all the Bluetooth dongle type units, is the clip. Beeing able to use your IEM and put the cable away while having the physical buttons in reach… glorious!
Same here!! Is a relieve.
I was pretty ok with the ES100, but need a second one and since the BTR5 was only $10 over and more power, better hardware I order it, but I really miss the ES100 app, way more useful, more informative and easy to control.
Ol’ reliable with a couple new-ish upgrades. I think getting a new cable soon would be in order too.
That’s a nice rig, @PrestonCG. That shiny 6XX… Never sell it. There are a lot of hat tricks in there depending on the gear driving it.
