DAPs, do you use them?

[quote=“BuffaloWing, post:115, topic:1320, full:true”]I’ll have to look up how it works as a desktop DAC/amp. If it’s fiddly, no point. Needs to be easily done.[/quote

Just go to mango settings and select DAC MODE and boom :musical_score::+1:

But in DAC mode on PC, there is a small delay RE: when the PC makes the noise, and when the dap renders it and you hear it. That’s the only reason it isn’t my desktop unit as well.

Ruins things like gaming\movies\etc.

That said, it is the best DAP I’ve ever used (DX300) - for music discovery\enjoyment on the go. That UI, Screen, … really changes the perceived experience.

It’s the first ‘useable’ dap i’ve encountered.

Yeah it has latency with video’s when used as a DAC from a PC or Mac etc…this isn’t an issue for me as I stream my media via the DX300 it’s self…Youtube/Movies etc…I don’t game so can’t comment on that. I only use it as a DAC from my MacBook Pro for music and music content I don’t have loaded so no real issue for me.

Do you know if iBasso has representation on this forum? If so, on the next software update, this would be a stellar fix - it would open the door for many folks to use the iBasso DX300 as all they need - both mobile, and at desk. (Assuming they can get around the whole battery powered thing… but for some, that could be a benefit - isolating from mains noise).

Food for thought
@Resolve - do you know if iBasso is on this forum? (Im new here…)

That I’m not sure. But I do think a lot of manufacturers check these threads.

I’ve just asked them directly, I’ll let you know their response when I get it :+1:

Any update? Mine is about 30ms, based off a test video on YouTube.

iBasso said no. No fix, device is for Audio in mind.

I’ll just get a Firebox/Chrome plugin to delay video when I need to, if I choose to use the DX300 as a DAC/Amp.

No buddy no response yet which is somewhat disappointing seeing as it’s their TOTL Dap which should be versatile enough be used for most audio tasks…whatever they maybe?

I got a reply.

“We are sorry, have no fix, it is a Audio device”

So sorry. There are browser plugins where you can delay video by a chosen time. As a work around.

Disappointing.

It seems to be something that should be fix-able in software… and would really make it more viable to another use-case.

If “It is a audio device” then perhaps they should state this in their specifications of the product ('Compatible with windows 10 in DAC mode… /w 30ms delay) or something like that.

Bleh. Disillusioned. I was so on the iBasso train until this.

I’ll test other settings and report back.

I’ve just installed their ‘new’ update which has made no difference to the latency issues…both the BT and USB Dac modes still suffer from the same problem…hopefully they’re working through issues and will have some more software/firmware updates to follow soon :man_shrugging:

I don’t think it’s an issue, more of just a drawback of how they have made it sound the way it sounds. Ideally it would just have a performance mode, where it does a much more basic processing to reduce the latency. A “media” or “youtube” mode.

Tbh it’s not a problem for me as I only use it for music stuff but I guess gammers and maybe musicians might find it a deal breaker?

Has anyone tried an App like Metronome? if I get time later I’ll give it a go :+1:

Ok so downloaded the Soundbrenner App and yes after a bit of faffing it works a treat…seems circa 12ms pretty much sorts it…This’s not something I’d use but for gammers etc it would be worth it :+1:
