DNA Starlett - An Attempted Review

Well, it looks like it was worth the wait! Hope you enjoy them for many years to come. Maybe pass it down to your children as a family heirloom :joy:

This reminds me of a guy on one of the Discord servers who was waiting on some boutique IEMs from a guy in Japan (Kumitate Labs). I think it took them over 3 years for it to arrive but well, you can see how beautiful it looks here.

At least it’s better than the keyboard hobby where you wait 2 years for keycaps…

Thanks! Still waiting for the cooler months to give the Starlett a more serious listen.

Stellaris really doesn’t produce an appreciable amount of heat, no more than a standard class A solid state amp and nowhere near enough to make any difference in room temp. It runs considerably cooler than Schiit Valhalla. I can’t imagine Starlett produces much more?

The only area where the Starlett gets hot is the center of the power transformer. The rest of the headphone amplifier chassis runs warm to the touch. I avoid headphone listening during the summer because it’s just too hot to wear headphones.

I have several headphone amplifiers that run much hotter than the Starlett. My Mapletree Audio Design Octal Duo 300 runs very hot. So does the Schiit Asgard 2 that I use with my inexpensive planars… I mostly use my two channel speaker system during the summer and rotate back to headphones from October through most of May. Then back to 2 channel.
