Can’t comment on how you would like the sound. I like the signature. I have four pairs of various DCAudio headphones. I have two of the Aeon closed, an Ether CX, and an open back Ether 2.
The Focal Clears suggested by @bpcarb are one of my daily drivers. Good comfort, good sound, easy to drive.
Yep, agreed, and minimal loss on a resale at that price. The Clear also scale nicely with better gear, so they’re a good headphone for going with you on an upgrade journey over the years.
Sorry @Jman841, we’re getting off topic here. What are people’s thoughts about the Ananda? I’ve not heard it but its predecessor, the HE X v.2, certainly was comfortable. To me, at least. Some folks have reported discomfort with the pads pushing against the jaw. I typically like teardrop designs and found the HE X and the Dan Clark Audio Aeon very comfortable (I’ve not heard the v.2 Aeon that @rrwwss52 suggested above).
If I understand correctly, the Ananda is easy to drive and the Aeon is a bit more demanding (its macrodynamics are too soft, I’ve heard, if not powered sufficiently - I could be wrong here).
The trick to comfort with the AEON teardrops is blue removable threadlocker (e.g, Loctite, Permatex). The headband sliders tend to allow them to slide down lower and lower. I’ve read complaints in the past, and think most follow from loose sliders. Blue threadlocker on the screws keeps the adjustment stable even on a hanger for months.
