Now it’s showing cake day (and I was worried that I had missed it) so my post from yesterday in off topic still stands.
Happy day old stale cake day @pennstac. Half price.
I might steal that and relabel it “Flushin’ Russian”
I ran across that recipe in college boomer days. Rushin Russian is good, the variety I came across was called a Pile Driver! Good for jitters the evening before endoscopy…
Pathos Acoustics : InPol Ear.
You are done.
Can you tell me if the Smarty Trend radio uses the same high-quality screen as Lilliput?
Hi Jeriuuy and welcome!
I am not sure that you posted this question on the correct forum but I am sure that the AKG K712 Pro wasn’t the correct thread, so I moved it here just in case anyone may know the answer you are looking for.
I did end up purchasing the HE-560 v4 . Night & day difference compared to my 4XX . My A30 Pro, I have to rurn it to about 1:30 on the volume to get it loud enough for me . I’ve an SMSL SH-9 , not the best match at all, my SP200 does better for some reason . I’m now looking at the Aeon Open-X .
Help please. I am looking for a pair of travel headphones that will be comfortable for long periods of time. However, my biggest issue is my very large ears. I cannot find earcup sizes anywhere. I do have a set of Logitech gaming headphones that are reasonably comfortable (~70mmx50mmx22mm), but even those aren’t quite deep enough. So here is what I would like and hopefully I don’t sound like a total newb (which I am):
Type: Over ear, ANC would be nice, wired or wireless, mostly used with iPhone/iPad
Price range: Would love something under $400, but can be a little flexible
Listen to: Lots of different music, some audiobooks/podcast, some movies
Used for: Travel mostly, also home use
Again, while sound quality is important, the most critical factor is earcup size.
Thanks in advance
Just checking to ask if you’ve ruled out iem’s. You still have to find the right tips but a nice travel set can be had for under $50
There’s also the Apple Airpods that fit with your phone ecosystem.
I have fairly big ears, and Bose QC 35 II have the most comfortable cups I’ve worn in a wireless ANC can.
@pezda – I’d personally use my AirPods Pro IEMs. They have 17 dB noise canceling and fit in a tiny space. I used to carry Sony over-ear travel headphones, but they are 20x larger than IEMs. Negatives include relatively short battery life, so you must keep the case with you. Still, Apple integration and the size are worth it for many travel scenarios.
Looking for some advice.
About 12 years ago I had a sizeable bonus burning a hole in my pocket. I traveled a lot working in FIFO mining and wanted a decent portable headphone setup with good sound isolation for the weekly flights to and from site as well as when I was decompressing after work each day.
I jumped right into the deep end of CIEMs and got a set of JH16Pros, a CLAS DAC and ALO Amp. I was blown away by how these things sounded and was pretty much happy with them for the next 12 years.
Fast forward to present day not traveling anymore and I am looking at some LCD-XC Cans for my office/home listening. (I nearly jumped on the LCD-2 train 12 years ago but the portability of the CIEMs won out.)
Are the LCD-XCs going to be as good or better than the CIEMs?
What I am looking for with these new cans is essentially the same clarity, response, accuracy and effortless bass that the JH16Pros offered with more of an open sound stage.
I plan to initially drive them with a FIIO BTR7 in balanced mode and then decide from there if they need more.
Let me know what you all think, am I wasting my time going down this path to improve on the JH16s, or will the LCD-XCs blow me away, and keep me happy for another 12 years.
I listen to most music but lean towards the Alternative Rock/Metal genre with a bit of folk rock and commercial doof doof thrown in the mix occasionally.
I haven’t had much luck with iem’s, but maybe I simply haven’t found the right fit.
I think you are taking a pretty cool path, but I must let you know that the LCD XC need a really good desktop amp. There is not a lot of portable amps that do them full Justice. Just make sure that if you consider the XC or X that you consider the amp.
Also. XC’s definitely have a tighter and snappier sound in the bass than the X, but the X is more open, transparent and realistic.
I’ve never tried a custom IEM, but the universal IEMs I’ve tried can’t complete with the headphones I’ve heard in the same price brackets. To my ears, over-ear headphones stage and image so much more realistically, and they offer better clarity, separation of instruments and a more enveloping sound. YMMV, but Headphones > IEMs every day for me. And speakers beat both of them.
If you want to go the planar route, I think Audeze is a solid choice. They take to EQ really well too, so if you’re familiar with using, it I highly recommend it. Happy hunting!
I need your advice - Thanks
Currently I am using Meze Rai Penta and quit happy with them. The SQ is great and the fit is even better.
They fit perfectly into my ears
Now I am looking for an additional IEM that have the same great fit (size) has Meze Rai Penta.
If you have any suggestions it would be very helpful.
Thanks
Torben
Recommending something that will fit your ear anatomy is too difficult to do, but we can hopefully assist in recommending based on sound quality.
Are you looking for a compliment to the Rai Penta sound or do you want something more contrasting? The more specifics you provide the better.
The recent Sennheisers are always praised for their fit. Most sing their praises for sound quality, too. You can try out the IE200 for fit, and then use it while outside walking. Then get the IE600 for an upgraded audiophile experience.
I like the Hyla Sarda in the same price bracket as he Meze, but I’m not a big IEM user.
Sarda’s real strength is it’s Bass.
