Hello everyone,

I would like to buy a new gaming headset. I am currently using Roccat Kave and those are great, but too old now.

So I am looking for a new one. I am thinking either Roccat Khan Aimo or Roccat ELO 7.1 USB. I don’t want wireless. Which one you guys think is better?

Lastly I want to add that my sound car is Realtek ALC1220 (and motherboard ASROCK Z390 EXTREME4).

Thank youe for any opinions.

I am a fan of the PC37X, and PC38X by Sennheiser and available from Drop… for specific “gaming” headsets… then just use the game or windows DSP to get “surround sound” … both would work with your sound card or Mobo… if you are more into single player and like planar… LCD-GX by Audeze

Welcome to the forum @Guarana42!

Take a look at this video that some of our headphone gurus together recently. They go through gaming headphones at different price levels. LOL, I don’t even game and I thought it was interesting.

I would like to apply Oratory1990’s EQ compensations for the headphones I own. (as a start)
It’s easy on the laptop. And I like the results.
But I don’t want to spend too much money on it (yet). I’d rather invest in a pair of headphones I don’t feel the need to EQ.

Hey everybody, so I decided to get the HE6. Probably not the most rational decision, under my circumstances, however I really felt I need to take the opportunity.

I chose the flux labs FA-10 as they do not charge sales tax. Also would like those 10.5 wpc to give me an idea if those are the headphones for me.

Back again, cause now I need help choosing a dac. I don’t know if I should get a balanced dac or which dac to choose which maybe a suitable pairing regardless of balanced or not. Preferably balanced

Schiit Bifrost 2, call it a day.

What about the gungnir???

There are a few players out there which allow you to backup SACDs The Oppo 103/105 are the preferred machine but they are pricey on the secondary market. I ripped mine using a Sony player that I bought for $30 used on Mercari.

A few more along with the OPPO’s you noted will RIP SACD’s
Cambridge Audio 752bd
Cambridge Audio 752cxu
Pioneer bdp-lx58
Pioneer bdp-lx88
Pioneer BDP-160
Pioneer BDP-170
And these Sonys
S590
BDP-S390 (also sold as BX39 in some markets)
BDP-S490
BDP-S4100
BDP-S5100 (also sold as BX510 in some markets
And some early PS3’s

Yep. Just didn’t want to go into too much detail unless @rho was interested

The Bifrost 2 thread is very informative, you should have a browse through it as there impressions from those who owned both units. I only recently purchased the Bifrost 2, I did so after much deliberation on other DACs, and the Gungnir was not one of them. I am blown away by the Bifrost 2 as it’s a significant improvement over my previous DAC, to think it’s about $100 more than my beloved Chord Mojo, an aging yet solid entry level Chord offering.

If you feel the need to spend nearly double for Gungnir, no one is going to stop you. You can visit the Schiitr, it is in LA, albeit out in the burbs of Canyon Country. You can hear for yourself.

Good Luck

Hmmmm Schitt is interesting, what do you think about the Gustard X16? It has way more features and I’m not getting any understanding of measurements in a versus comparison, as I see nothing on the bifrost. But the X16 seems really good and 200 dollars cheaper

Sorry I am not a measurement type of person, the only tools I have available are my ears.

I haven’t heard either, nor have you. So why bifrost :joy:

I have heard the Bifrost and Gungnir, I choose Bifrost based on discussions with some owners. Their impressions aligned with what I was looking for in a DAC, more natural sounding, good soundstage, non clinical, and non-fatigue when listening through headphones. It’s also a multi bit r2r DAC and I’ve been curious about their sound. Nothing I am describing is much different than what others described in the Bifrost 2 thread. You really should have a browse. I don’t have your headphones or amp, so what is good for me maybe not good for you.

I know the Bifrost has a good following, rare to see it up for sale after being out for over a year. That tells me people like it enough not to sell it and gear cycle.

Interesting, I have a Sony BDP-S4100 laying around here somewhere.

Oh yes, I understand, I think the only one to par would be gungnir Multibit, but that’s 1300. ProfFalkin suggested the saga+ on his listening experience.

I am actually just trying to get a dac that is favorable for the HE6’s, as some dacs have specific characteristics which would provide this. Which ones I have no idea, I hear people saying the headphones are warm, then people saying it gets brighter in the higher frequency range.

Head-fi: very warm, thick and smooth signature, and if you wanted to have the detail and revealing abilities of HE6SE

I got no problem eqing these headphones to modify any of these issues if it does become problematic.

Merely trying to avoid aggravating the response

With the HE6 (unmodified) you’re going to get a system that is too bright and harsh if you don’t warm it up with something.

I suggested the saga+ as a preamp for the Vidar and Code6 (modified HE6). You don’t need it if you have a normal headphone amp.

HE6 can be amazing if you know exactly what you’re doing, what you want to get out of it, and have the equipment to make it work. EQ is not a magic fix all. I think you’re headed into trouble here.

Distortion is directly related to amplification? They suggest the xDuoo TA-10, only issue seems to be distortion. ASR has the detailed review.

Tubes make sound/sonic characteristics or they don’t. They are using the same AK chip as Schitt. So at least we are headed in the right direction with Schitts non Multibit. Idk what direction Multibit takes.

They got the Young MKIII dac as suggested and RME ADI-2

I advise you ignore ASR regarding distortion. They measure something but not pleasing audio.

Far more valuable to try for yourself. Clean can sound brittle, sharp, and cold.
