I’ve never been entirely happy with the sound from streaming services, nor with computer based playback. Have had some incremental improvements over time (new computer, improved internet service), but still, not entirely satisfied.
Did some research into music servers, and came to the conclusion that whilst they provide convenience, many of them seem overpriced.
Looked at options for reducing noise, and came upon the Topping HS02 isolator. The difference when using the HS02 was immediately noticeable. The sound improved across the board by a noticeable amount. Increased clarity, a blacker background, and more natural sonics all jump out. The sound from using the computer with the HS02 sounds as good to me as an expensive music server.

Just plug your phone into the DAC, problem solved, EZ.
No, but seriously, I have not encountered issues with noise from a Phone or Tablet plugged into the budget DACs I’ve had (Topping DX3+, Fiio K11 R2R, Qudelix 5k), while I have heard noise from my pretty beefy gaming rig (albeit only with the volume knob at way above my listening volumes with no media playing).
This has become a non-issue after getting a DAC with better USB isolation though (Topping Centaurus).
A separate issue is that my Tube Amp (Feliks Echo 2) was fussy about being in front of my monitor, so I moved it 5 feet away and to the side, no noise from my monitor since.
Right there with you on that! The HS02 is great, even though people say it’s only for breaking ground loops, I think it does more than that, even with galvanically isolated gear that isn’t supposed to need it. Now, HQPlayer… that’s the next stop down the “I know it’s just supposed to be bits, but I hear something else” rabbit hole
There is no audible variance possible versus any transparent DAC from any of the streaming services offering lossless, and likely for most in high quality lossy. There would be no audible difference caused by this device in any capacity for local audio playback either, it serves a niche application for ground loops and latency. This is an event that cannot exist in reality unless at least one chain component is broken. The difference would not be immediately noticeable because there wouldn’t be one, and ABX would show that.
The HS02 connected to a computer used as a music server does indeed seem to work as advertised. The difference is noticeable. There are measurements that support this.

In eliminating a ground loop? Please share said measurements.
"Apologies to those looking for a subjective “How does it sounds?” section to this review. There’s simply no need to write paragraphs describing whether sound stage expanded, transients changed, bass got deeper or treble extended beyond the frequency range audible to dogs. When a system is well isolated and you’re using a DAC with excellent temporal performance (ie. low jitter), it just sounds like “Bits Are Bits” because the noise and interference have been neutralized, which is what we’re aiming for in high fidelity reproduction in the first place. To claim that one hears significant differences or that one isolator is better than another due to subjective beliefs would be folly. Yes, I listened with the HS02 connected between a fanless MeLE Quieter2Q computer and the Sabaj A20d 2022 DAC the other night and the sound remained excellent (no, an isolator is not needed in my audio system).
As I have suggested before in other USB isolator discussions, you likely will NOT need a USB isolator most of the time with most systems. I do not recommend just buying these things because some audiophile reviewer guy recommended it. These are useful however if you have ground loops or notice noise leaking into your DAC from the computer or streamer; these anomalies will sound like a hum (eg. 50/60Hz mains frequency), or intermittent electrical noise when the computer/streamer CPU is under load or accessing storage."
Can you please restate your original description of how the device sounds?
There is a video from the “Passion For Sound” on various items that claim to improve audio, including HS02. His take away was that whilst the HS02 does not add anything to the sound, it does clean up the USB output from source equipment.
I’ve noticed that using a smartphone connected to a Topping DX9 Discrete via USB is already quiet, so no need for the HS02. Using a Windows computer USB to an external DAC is not as clean, and the HS02 does indeed help in my setup.
