What I’d really like to see is an EQ profile that can turn the Sennheiser HD820 into the 800S. Can it be done? The 820 already has kind of an “open” feel, and all the criticism directed at it is about the wonky mid-bass hill and valley, which should be fixable.
I don’t think it can be done as a generic profile. It would have to be a profile specific to you. That means FR measurements specific to you for both headphones would have to be created somehow. Even then, the additional occlusion and acoustic impedance of the HD820 might prevent it from sounding exactly the same.

Hey @listener, on the latest Noise Floor you mentioned you’d EQ’d your HD800S to sound like the Flowztone F-R1. I’m definitely keen to get a sense - would you mind sharing the filter settings pretty please?
This should get you into the ballpark, though you may need to change the last PK filter to 4000 Hz and make it closer to +4 dB depending on how you wear the HD 800S.
Hell yeah dude that slaps! I’ve been using your first HD800S profile at the top of this thread with a couple of adjustments as my daily when I’m at my PC. Immediate impressions versus that one are - this profile sounds livelier and more engaging, versus the old one sounding smoother and a bit more relaxed or subdued. Vocals are more forward, electric guitars are crunchier, drums sound punchier. I’m getting more brass instruments on the tracks that have them. Everything has more bite and maybe a bit more clarity, and instruments sound a little more separated. Some tracks are on the edge of shouty or glary, and I’m needing to move the volume wheel down a little, but mostly it’s on the right side of that edge.
Yeah man this is awesome, thanks so much for sharing. I don’t know how they compare in FR terms, but this experience is much more reminiscent of my OG Clears. I’m really going to enjoy listening with this.
