This is my first Hifiman, coming from the LCD2C, HD800s, and Denon AH-D9200. It’s my favorite all-rounder and costs a fraction of the others, making it great for both music and games. I ended up EQing it to the Harman 2018 target just for comparison. The clamp force feels perfect, and I think I chose the right Hifiman since I generally don’t like bright headphones. The bass response is incredible.
I just swapped the default pads for the Dekoni Hybrid pads for FT1, and they make a HUGE difference. Like night and day really
Anyone using the Edition XV for Gaming and Movies/TV?
Any good EQ you recommend to these great headphones? ![]()
I’m pretty surprised that these were not being compared to the Tungsten, considering they both have a similar tuning, with one noticeable deviation. At least as far as their frequency response goes.
The Tungsten were also reviewed as having one of the most pleasant and relaxed trebles they had heard and it too was also claimed to be a headphone that doesn’t need EQ.
Have you got an EQ tips or settings I could try @listener ? Great review btw.
@Danne @the_body_electric_85 This is what I’ve been using as a simple profile
PK 160 Hz -0.7 dB Q: 1
PK 666 Hz -2 dB Q: 0.7
PK 1600 Hz +3 dB Q: 1.2
If you need treble adjustments, you’ll have to sort them out manually, but I recommend sweeping around 6-9 kHz to see if there are any narrow band resonances that need to be cut (of course, only if you feel they’re bright). Good luck!
Any more Edition XV impressions?
I’m curious how it would compare to an Heddphone D1 (the other recent “hotness”) or the DCA E3 (my current cans).
Thanks
