i got dark purple because thats what they had in the store. I probably would have gotten dark blue or black if they had it.
Itās okay to tell the truth, weāre not going to judge youā¦
Thatās hysterical.
My HE6se are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. From the impressions here it looks like Iāll be changing out the headband.
Itās not the end of the world but itās not great either. Let me know if you come up with something cool!
Lots of people changing it to the Audeze ones, also lots using those headband socks (myself included).
My HE6se arrived today. I was pleasantly surprised with the build quality, itās much better than I was expecting.
As far as sound, I wonāt really be able to give any substantial impressions since my amp isnāt ready yet (still waiting on Upscale to finish repairs). Iām also waiting on a Black Box from ampsandsounds which will be a few week.
That being said, while trying them off of a Schiit Vali 2+ Iām happy with the even tonality Iām hearing. Everything seems to be appropriately staged as well.
Iām very excited to hear these off of my Krell. Now itās just a matter of patience.
Enjoy them! They are great headphones!
Thank you!
They seem like Iām really going to like them after properly powering them.
Cheers.
i was very surprised with my vali 2 non plus that they could power the he6se. its rated at only 1 watt at 50ohms and yet it gets louder and more full than my heresy that is rated at 1.5watts. also the tonality is far better on the vali than heresy and i will be using it as pre amp for the schiit JOT 2 in a few days. 5 watts per channel will be nice.
I think itās the current the Vali is pushing. Itās a great little amp.
Does anyone know of available honeycomb grills? The one that @antdroid linked are out of stock.
You can cut one out yourself. Car grill or Bird/Rodentative house grills are two options that people use.
Yeah, I ordered some stainless woven wire mesh. I just wanted to see if the hex was available anywhere. Itād be nice to compare.
Thanks.
I did the grill mod on my HE6se and Iām really happy with the results.
The honeycomb grills that most use were out of stock/no longer available at the time that I purchased my HE6se, so I decided to make my own. I used a stainless steel woven wire mesh and a tulle dust cover similar to the ones @antdroid posted earlier in this thread.
They donāt look as pretty as the aluminum honeycomb from eBay, but they sound much better than stock, imo.
Someone on another forum persuaded the seller to restock the honeycomb grills so I was able to order a pair recently. Iāll see if I notice any sonic differences.
Hereās my āghettoā style, homemade grills:
Looks good! Cant wait to hear your impressions!
@PForPho recently made some 3D printed grills that look great too! (putting you on the spot! )
Thank you!
That sounds pretty sweet, show us your grill @PForPho!
Edit: Iāll hold off on my impressions until I pick up my Krell, but theyāre definitely going to positive.
Hah! I actually got this file from headfi. Someone was kind enough to post their design and I had to print it.
Itās sort of hard to tell from the picture, but itās double-layered honeycomb. Makes for a very solid structure which also looks fantastic
Iām going to do a single layer of honeycomb and see how that turns out because it doesnāt sound as open as Iād like. Iāll play around with some designs this weekendā¦ should be fun.
Also still waiting for my CF band + yoke kit to ship from Audezeā¦ havenāt had an update in a good bit.
Those look sweet!
Iām supposed to get a file for a custom HifiMan grill. When I get them Iāll share it with you.
