HiFiMan Susvara Over-Ear Planar Headphone - Official Thread

Susvara has excellent bass on my system for my ears. You can beat it for dynamics and bass with other headphones but it’s still way up there with the best of the best

I don’t know if this would be the best option but YMMV…

No disrespect, but what is your day job lmao. This picture is worth at least 20K.

Hey @Resolve - trying out your latest EQ profile on this thread (post 656) and I like it a lot (chain is Yggy+ OG → Burson 3XGT 2023 with SP02 power chips). I find the top end a bit dark, so I add a high shelf at 7500 hz +2.5 dB q 1.0 to bring the air region back up near baseline. (I started with more dB but to gets fatiguing pretty fast with that much, this much is tolerable). I left the rest as you specified. Not for everyone, but I like it!

I do wonder though how this would work if I used the 3XGT as a pre- into a speaker amp to run the Sus. My inclination in that context would be to go w/o EQ.

“Sorry, chaps … we regret to have to inform you that your previous ‘OMG bestest ever’ headphones were, as it happens, veiled .”

“We know , it came as a shock to us too! It has taken us all but 7 YEARS to come up with a way to make them cheaper while seeming newer something ‘better’.”

“In the end, we had to turn to Ferrari for inspiration; selling you basically the same product, but with stuff removed, and jacking up the price 30%!”

“Oh, and while we were at it, we were inspired by Ferrari’s standard leather color, so we copied that, too … but some how it turned out more ‘baby-shite-brown’ than ‘Ferrari Traditional Beige’”.

“Buy now … this will be a limited run … yep! Limited to how many we can actually sell …”

Was this announced somewhere?

No, it’s me taking the piss.

It’s like the “Limited Edition” Toyota Camry …

“Limited … to exactly as many as we can sell.”

(i.e., not limited at all).

And how are we feeling? :joy:

Now cue the flurry of OG Susvara sales … at apparent “bargain” and/or “priced-to-sell” levels … which are, in reality, about $200 shy of what they paid in the first-place …

(You paid the $6,000 MSRP? No … really?!)

No guys the “unveiled” part totally refers to removing the back so you can see the driver in all its glory

Apparently “you must use the covers when not listening” …

I look forward to your impressions when you get them @Torq

That’s how I read it…when a firm cannot improve on technology they routinely change the look, create a limited edition, etc. I read this as a tacit admission that are unable to improve the product after >7< years…and perhaps unlikely to improve this technology in the future.

Mature industry.

I believe you’re reading into it too much.

Myself, @Resolve and @GoldenSound heard it in Munich and there were definite sonic differences. That was a short demo though.

Our unit should arrive at the office on Thursday so more impressions soon!

The marketing folly of this is EPIC.

The r&d folly of this is laughable.

Unless it actually does sound better, in which case I have personally found the pinnacle of hifi.

The new sus is kind of ugly and that alone makes me not want to buy it, but also the price tag. :expressionless:

When is someone going to accidentally have a magnetic screwdriver/knife/etc go through the driver?
