IEM eartips

Hmmm. Did you steal jewelry boxes form Mrs. Wolf? Does the she-Wolf have her own set of boxes?

After years of trial and error through literally hundreds of supplied and purchased eartips, I have settled on the only ones that “disappear “ in my ear canals, SpinFit CP 240 double flange in medium.

Although other eartips, even custom, may actually have slightly better audio performance, the sense that “there is something in my ear” is so unconsciously distracting that I have an inhibition from using my IEMs with them on.

This knowledge that the SpinFit 240 will “disappear” makes me instinctively reach for them every time.

Have been playing a bit with my Audeze LCDi3. These “IEMs” if you can call them that are very sensitive to eartip, and the sound can change significantly. They are too large to fit in your ear, having a 30mm planar-magnetic driver, so the fit outside the ear. A rather wide soundpipe (ear cannon?) tube directs sound into your ear, the base of which (the pipe, not the ear) can accept Audeze ear clips or ear fins. Neither of these create an actual seal, except by accident.

I’ve tried all of the supplied Audeze tips, and the oval Eartune tips. As of the last time I checked, XElastic did not make one that would fit. There was one small memory-foam tip that I had from somewhere, I don’t think it was Audeze. These were AWESOME. They made an actual seal, and bass punch was suddenly there.

I think that Audeze says they don’t have to seal, but it might be possible to drive without having the steering wheel affect the direction of the front wheels, but it is much more satisfying when it does.

If you have any of the iSINE or LCDi3 or LCDi4, I suggest you try a memory foam tip.

Have you tried the Spinfit CP155 by any chance?

Those are what I decided on for the iSine LX (and the B2 dusk).

I think I tried the CP145, which is supposed to be a very snug fit. I also had the CP155 when I first got them. None of the Spinfits created the proper seal in my ears. Or at least would come out soon after sealing.
