IEM eartips

I too tend to be a bit impulsive sometimes. Those fish must have been a beautiful sight but would surely taken some looking after. Tropical fish do look stunning given the right tank and environment. Mind you some would look stunning in a fish bowl given just how beautiful they are. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.

+1 For Spinfits here too. These are by far my favourite tips.

I do also like foamies though, and recently got some BlackBird SecureFit S30s (basicly complies) and these are probably the most comfortavle tips Ive tried, but they seem to dull the sparkle in the top end a little bit so I don’t use them all the time. They do help glue my CA Comets in nice and tight though. But I usually end uo back with SpinFits.

I recently tried MandarinEs Symbios which are really interesting, basically they’re silicons but the gap is filled with foam. An interesting combo.

Apparently I have tiny lug holes and even struggle with small tips sometimes so these didn’t work for me as I found even the smallest ones a bit too big. Definitely worth a try if you have anything but teeny tiny lug 'oles though.

I really like the spiral dots and the new double flange spinfits…but I don’t have the most experience with tips…so yeah

I’ve found these generic foam tips to be fine for many scenarios, and cheap enough to dispose before they get too dirty. The large size fits the thick shafts on my Noble IEMs too.

I have several dozen different types of tips around and try very hard to get rid of as many as I can. I’m a hoarder of these things.

My favorites are SpinFit, Rebound (foams), Final E-tips and Mandarin-E Symbio-W hybrids.

Lately, I’ve been using my own version of the hybrids by taking some of my foam and cutting the top half of it off and sliding it into the best fitting silicone tips for my IEM of choice. It works well since the Symbio-W, even in size small, are just a tad too large for a good long-term fit for my ears.

Here’s an example of one I made today:

I just picked up some spinfit CP145s and they work really well with my 64Audio U4SEs.
Couldn’t get a decent seal with the Symbios on the U4SEs so I’m a pretty happy camper.

I use these same tips on my QT2 and am quite happy with them as well.

I’m currently flying in a twin engined jetliner and have some impressions regarding isolation.

Etymotic HF5 with custom molded silicone sleeves - these let me forget that I’m on a plane, I can barely hear the engines, let alone my fellow passengers. I listened to a Sibelius violin concerto and didn’t have to crank the volume at all. Sadly, they became uncomfortable after a couple of hours and I had to take them out.

HF5 with medium triple flange tips - these don’t isolate as well as the custom sleeves, I can still hear everything but it’s dramatically attenuated.

HF5 with Shure olive foam tips - these just don’t fit my right ear well. On the left ear, they seemed to isolate very well though. And they’re definitely way more comfortable than the triple flanges.

Revonext QT2 with Spinfit CP145 tips - these IEMs are vented and just don’t isolate as well as the Etymotics. That said, I can tell that I’m getting a good seal from the Spinfits and they still attenuate the volume somewhat. I’m finding myself listening at higher than normal volumes, though probably only about 5-10 dB higher, which isn’t too bad. Comfort is very good.

“Round peg in an oval hole”

I have been on a quest to find comfortable eartips that seal well. I have tried just about every brand and material. The problem is (as I discovered from a laser-scan of my ear canals) that my ear canals are narrow ovals instead of round.

When I try to fit a small round eartip into my ear canal comfortably, it doesn’t seal. When I try a larger round eartip into my ear canal, it is difficult to get seated, and it becomes painful quite quickly, even the foam eartips have this effect.

So, I tried custom silicon sleeves, which work, but which make my IEMs stick out of my ears. Not the greatest look.

Then, I discovered something completely new, OVAL EARTIPS, from Eartune.com. What a concept, for those of us with (narrow) oval ear canals. If you have had trouble finding a comfortable fit with a decent seal that you could wear for hours, this could be one answer for you to consider:

Now I have a comfortable fit, decent seal, and I can wear them all day. If this sounds like a commercial, I apologize. I am just so happy to have finally solved the problem of my weird ears.

I have a similar problem, which I solved with Xelastec TPE tips.

I think you may have done a service to the community here. I have so many tips that are just not quite right. Perhaps it’s because my middle-earth dwarf ears are shaped like human ears.

Here is what I finally figured out - either leakage or pain.

Yes. That’s how I ended up using either memory foam or very thin silicone. Foam doesn’t last long but will seal most shapes without excessive pressure or pain. However, it has to start out S, M, or L per your ear. Very thin silicone is floppy and can be wedged into most gaps without pain.

To anybody that uses both spinfit and azla tips…

If I use spinfit cp100s and 100m, what size should the azla tips be? I heard you should get one size smaller, but would like to confirm…

Thanks!

If you check out the charts on Amazon, the diameter of the small size CP 100 is 11 mm and the medium is 12.2.

The small AZLA Sedna Earfit is 11.2; the SS is 10.4; the MS is 11.9, and the M is 12.6.

My Eartunes just arrived. They are a very tight fit on the nozzle of the Audeze LCDi3, but I think I like the result. They sit better in the ear than stock, making a seal or near seal, with good comfort. The LCDi3 does not have to have a seal, or require one as they are open back ear monitors.

Just had one slip off - must not have had it on as well as I thought. Need to make sure the oval fits my ear’s opening correctly. Sound is certainly good. They need a “put’r-on’r” tool. I’m sure it will be easier with narrower nozzled IEMS

The funny thing is I feel so bad spending money on eartips even when it costs way less than the actual iem. :joy::money_mouth_face:

Reviving this thread.

Interestingly enough, I was tip rolling the SE846 earlier today and decided to give the SpinFit CP800 (L) another try. It seems I finally found a way to get a seal. Let’s see. Promoted the same change to the SE535. Both had the Final Audio Type E eartips (LL) on them. Comfort-wise, I’m really fine with the stock silicone tips (L). This is the one I use all the time with the SE215 when running, for instance.

And… Before putting the tips back to storage, the short clip below speaks by itself.

And… My simple organization so far: 2 rows (nozzle size) vs 3 columns (eartips size):

6’ storage bin found in any Home Depot. :muscle:

I need a better (bigger maybe) system. I quickly ran out of spaces to keep things separate. Maybe your method would work better for me.

With the amount of tips some IEMs come with and the varieties available…I have a hard time keeping them straight. No idea what came or goes with what any more. Nor can I identify by sight. So I don’t know which are what brand unless they’re unique in some way. Gives my OCD fits.

This is how I try to keep my “addiction” under control.

If I needed more space, I would definitely have too much of this stuff
