This is a lovely album that never fails to put a smile on my face.
It would be Stanley Turrentine’s 87th birthday today. SiriusXM Real Jazz was playing him all day.
Interesting article about a small label, and some great leads on artists / albums to try. I am currently listening to the Hod O’Brien live at Blues Alley first set, and it is marvelously recorded.
Since discovering his recent “Tone Poem” I’ve gone way down the Charles Lloyd rabbit hole. All I have to say is WOW.
Jaimie Branch FLy or Die live … at Qobuz … , at Bandcamp..
Checking it out today … Smokin’ … one of the best live bands going … great live recording … sounds pretty damn good on the Utopias/Stratus combo.

Certainly not new, but just right for this Sunday morning.
The post Mingus - Mingus Big Band continues to impress me. Great album, and well recorded too!
Everybody Still Digs Bill Evans
Fantastic new release. Excellent remastering. A must-have for Bill Evans fans.

Grabbed a couple bangers last week. Especially the Oliver Nelson finally repressed and not costing $200 anymore. I held off and was rewarded big time. Will be in print for a little bit. Kenny dorham from RSD 2021. Only album I found out of the whole rsd event I was interested in.
fascinating mix of styles. Loving their take on Manteca:
Glad you enjoyed. My aunt who recommended this album specifically called out Manteca.
Dug the Sandoval version of Manteca, been on an interesting Japanese Jazz Kick lately:
