I have @jb77 liquid platinum on kind loan right now with his favorite tubes, it sounds pretty awesome with those tubes. I may try to incorporate into a live stream very soon to give impressions on it since I don’t have the stock version of it. It should be used balanced to really get the best quality of sound, keep that in mind for potential buyers at that sale price.

I believe @jb77 has the ā€œmini-mullardsā€ from Tubemonger in that amp. I’d love to get your thoughts on that pairing in a live stream @MRHifiReviews. I think our tastes in sound align pretty closely.

Keep having my :eye: :eye: on their page every now and then.

All their amps are back to MSRP, right before Xmas. That means bad timing for the (users in this) community.

I know I’m probably too naĆÆve but I find funny watching how the big engine works. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Looks like they’re finally releasing the matching DAC for the LP, after more than 2 years? :grimacing:

Looks like the XLR connectors were gender inverted for this DAC. The balanced XLR output is typically a male connector in DACs. Therefore, this stack will require a male XLR cable on both ends. :man_facepalming:

Hopefully this is just a pre-production picture and the final model was corrected.

Ohh, and it came out way more pricey…

Hifiman Edition X, Liquid Platinum (Tesla E88CC), SMSL VMV D1se and iFi Zen Stream. The Teslas were $28 and I prefer them over the stock EH6922. But there are better and pricier options which I tend to prefer even more

According to Murphy’s law, if I had to plan this, it would never happen. That’s right. I did not plan this. It just happened. :man_shrugging:

Now to the isolation pads for better thermal management.

Yeah it just showed up on your doorstep and wanted in, so you let it in! Right?

Nice setup. And it’s neat to see a Liquid Platinum DAC in the wild.
But you need more Cavalli gear. The one thing better than Cavalli gear is more Cavalli gear.
Here’s an older picture of my setup. Since then I’ve gotten a Liquid Gold X amp.

Nice gear setup!

Ever wonder if network guys post pictures of their fancy cabled network stacks like we do with audio stacks? ha!

Woow. You’re the truly Cavalli fanboy. :facepunch:

I suspect this DAC was not a good business case for them. It took way too long to be released and thus can’t compete with the current saturated market of today. They were so in a rush that not even an user guide was supplied in the box, and the pictures for their website were probably taken from a pre-production unit with many inaccuracies (see my earlier post above from March 9th).

On the other hand, it seems to be a well designed DAC. Interface is quite simple. No frills. All is good so far. I’m even letting Windows to purposely fool me. haha

Still haven’t plugged the LP to the DAC. Taking the time to familiarize myself with the LGX and reviving my old Liquid Spark. Geez, the LS is really good with IEMs.

I’m waiting for a XLR cable to be delivered sometime next week then I will post some pictures of the final setup including the cable management I’m envisioning.

Living the Cavalli dream.

This Friday it was tubing time. Not a backwards flying unicorn pairing to my ears but I would have enyoyed it all evening if this dinner thing didn’t come between. Liquid Platinum (Tesla E88CC) + TH-X00 Purpleheart was bit thick and warm, bit closed in but at the same time width in the soundstage. I liked the timbre, note weight, separation and general presentation. I usually prefer the Fostex with something that cuts the fat and tightens it up, this took it in another direction. It’s heavy and meaty, but it wasn’t a bad thing. Need to give this combo more time, can’t decide how good it is

Today I received my LP. I have this paired up now with my RME ADI2DAC which now gives me option for a hybrid balanced listening experience.

First test - Focal Radiance. Wow. I mean I wasn’t sure what to expect since the Radiance is a very easy to drive headphone, but so far this is very nice. The Radiance already has low end to it and is a somewhat warm headphone. Well this adds a bit to that but does feel like it lends some width to the stage on the Radiance which has been nice especially for it being closed back and a Focal. Now, I need to give this more time, but so far I’m impressed. I have other HP’s to listen to on this but currently was back to the Radiance so I thought why not. It also tames some of the spikes of treble I sometimes could get when listening on the ADI2DAC/Radiance.

Yep, this ones going to be a keeper Im thinking!

No more volume knob drama on my end. Got myself a 20dB attenuator and now I can go past noon on the LP without blasting my ears.

This balanced adapter – see below, should one is interested – was still not enough for sensitive IEMs though. :firecracker: :hear_no_evil:
