@PaisleyUnderground - I’d start with Wolf in White Van, both are worth reading. And if you find a copy of his book Master of Reality (from the 33 1/3 series), that’s a good find!

And I happen to be listening to Polar Onion by the Alla-Las right now, to check off on the thread topic.

It is a great song!

I wouldn’t bother keeping track/comparing. Just enjoy the music. :v:t4:
(I only post the source gear so that anyone familiar with it can better relate to my experience)

Just realized, five years today since we lost Bowie.

(I prefer the original, or early duran duran, but fitting tribute. Nice how they reworked some problematic lyrics.)

Something different I think you fine-tasted folks will enjoy even if you don’t speak the language:

The drop at around 3:30 mark is yum.

Paul’s Boutique- best Beasties album, IMO. Dust Brothers throw an incredibly high number of weird samples into this album. Probably cost a zillion bucks to make this album now with all the copyright laws since this came out

Paul’s Boutique is a great album - it’s amazing that such an iconic album completely flopped (relative to expectations) when it came out, because the world wasn’t ready for this evolution of their sound, and it almost destroyed their careers. Even more amazing that they were able to bounce back without compromising their vision and become global megastars.

I just watched the Beastie Boys documentary on Apple+. It’s very watchable and doesn’t follow the typical VH1-like music documentary. Instead, the 2 surviving members of the band are on stage, talking about their lives, and it intercuts with old footage.

I’ll have to check that documentary out, thanks for the heads up on this! I just listened to a Mike D guest DJ session on Apple music and it made me want to play some Beasties. Yeah, its sort of amazing that after this album they kept on going and turned into icons. They didn’t bow to pressure and kept making the music they wanted to, so many others would have changed or quit…
